question for turbo Vg's out there?

what is your highest and best run at the track?

what did you hit at the dyno?

honestly....being that you have turbo vg's....can you keep up with STI's and EVO's out there?

is it worth doing a turbo vg swap?

the STi and EVO are AWD so you may beable to keep up once rolling straight, but that's about it

who cares about 1/4 miles? You drive a heavy FWD car that was designed over 15 years ago.

road course is where it's at.. I can already keep up with a stock EVO on the track, and I've only done a few small engine bolt-ons.

hey matt....all those suspension mods, how much weight does that add to your car? And Maroon'dMaxSE, i dont really think the 3rd gen maxima is the right car to have if you want to race in a straight line....like matt said, road course is the right test for our car.

what's weight matter? for all the mods I've done on the car, I could make up that weight difference by going on a diet. besides, my brakes and wheels are lighter than the factory stuff- even with my 13" rotors.

haven't run it at the track yet but i'd take a guess and say high 14's or low 15's running on 7-8 psi non-intercooled and poorly tuned.

on an even worse tune i'm pretty sure i saw the computer on the dyno read 210 whp during the test run but i had intake pipe troubles during the real runs so don't have a printout of a good dyno run. (intake pipe popped off first due to a crappy coupler and the second run the other intake coupler popped so i said screw it).

you probably wouldn't be able to keep up with an evo or sti until you start cranking up the boost. you'd probably have to match their power output to have somewhat of a chance.

i think it is worth it to do a turbo vg.

if you are talking about low 15s to high 14s on 7-8 psi, thats VE territory no?

Both VE 5spds
Completley Stock, owner had just purchased the car so given more practice I bet he could put out better numbers.

Fidanza/ACT, Cattman Y, Cone filter, troubles with 3rd gear (mucho faster if not for that 3rd gear thing )

(It's Chris)

VG 5spd, with just a CAI

and your an auto, theres no hope

IMO it's really not worth it unless you have $$ to toss around. turbo VG and budget just doesn't go together.

WTF? A VE 5 spd will do 15.2 bone stock, and I ran 14.7 with minor bolt-ons. you guys are slow.

my vg did 16.4 stock. not sure what it will do now but i'm hoping in the 14's. the acceleration seems quite close when compared with Aaron's videos. i'll try to make it to the drag strip this weekend. i just need to get a cut off switch that will kill the car since i relocated the battery to the trunk. anyone know of any that will turn off everything? (i.e. not just the battery but will actually shut down the car by either killing the ignition or by switching off the alternator using a relay or something)

White wire on the MSD if you have it wired the way I do, no matter how its wierd, you just ground the one not in use and walla! instant kill switch

man I'm good

Bah.. I've only gone to the dragstrip... uhhh, 5 times total in the three years I've had the car.
now the road course, that's a different story.

Autocross courses, about 30 events.
MSR, 1.7mile road course, 3 events
Hallett, 1.8 mile road course, 4 events
TWS, 2.9 mile road course, 4 events

that's a lotta tires and gas, considering I usually burn a tank and a half during each roadcourse event, and another 2 tanks getting there and back.... hmm, 4 or 5 sets of tires in that time..

wooo, ordered an intercooler. should be here within 2 weeks or less. should be able to churn out 15 psi with it and i *should* be able to put down a little bit over 250 hp and 300 ft. lb. of torque to the wheels according to some other dynos i've seen. this is a very big guess though as there are tons of variables (dyno was in a Z so rwd, the Z was fully stock except the boost was increased, etc.). I'm sure the butt dyno will be able to tell a huge difference.

I'll be going to the track this Friday most like so I'll get some times with its current setup and then go as soon as I can after the intercooler install and see what times I get with the higher boost.
