I unsuccesfully tried to do the red/clears on the weekend and used the oven to remove the lens. I made the mistake of laying the lights on the clear side and there's now a little flat spot on the clear lens. Taking off the lens caused alot of stringy glue fibres and some of it fell on the inside. I used Goof Off to clean off the glue and its not compatible with the plastic!
Once I put in the cut fluorescent plastic the clear lens showed how jagged the edges were and so I put it all back to the original shape. While trying to press the lens back on I cracked the corner. Now it looks fugly when viewed close up.

It isn't difficult to do if you take your time. I messed up the first set I've ever done, but I have 4 perfect sets in a row since then. Just practice on something like a stock bumper light.

I hear that. Luckily I cam across another set of stock lights and fixed the 3 cracked ones I had.

I cracked one of mine when I was putting them back together. I put too much pressure on the lenses when I put them back together. I also cracked one by using tools to try and pull them apart. Heat and gloves are the way to go with pulling them apart.

There's a tiny lip on the lens. When I tried to push it in so that the two halves meet up I cracked it along the corner by the red reflector. The glue was hardening up and very hard to manipulate.

Sounds about right. I use 225 for about 12-14 minutes. The most important thing is keeping the glue warm when opening or closing them.

Check out my homepage for a dark emerald pic with a similar mod. Color is very close to a black max.
