Got my Greddy SP2...something is not right

Had a box waiting for me when I got home

ohhhhhh it's shinny

But....the SP2 is supposed to be only for the 95-96 so why is there an o2 bung on the B-pipe?

You are correct. 95-96 should have the O2 in the cat.

My 97 has the O2 sensor in the b-pipe, that looks like it was made for a 97-99, but one thing I don't understand is why is it crooked, like on a angle, doesn't make sense.

Your missing the point...of course it is for an o2 sensor. But if I indeed was shipped a Greddy SP2 for a 95-96 Maxima (which is the only SP2 they make) then it would not have a bung for the o2 sensor on the B-pipe since a 95-96 maxima/I30 has the o2 sensor on the cat.

I wonder if they sold me a 97-99 SP and not an SP2? But then the B-pipe wouldn't be stainless and it looks stainless to me...I think?

Here is the sticker on the side of the box and a better pic of the B-pipe..does it look like full SS to you?

so your i30 is a 95-96 and it should be in the cat. this one is in the b-pipe. its full ss, so its got to be a sp2, did they change something? im learning, so sorry if im not making sense.

You got the correct part. I too have the SP2 and I just sealed that bung with a bolt.

On my sp1, there is a o2 bung as well but there is a bolt that goes in the bung when it is not used. Don't know if u also recieved the bolt as well. I would call them.

So all these 97-99 guys are worried ordering the SP2 because there is no bung for the o2 sensor....but there is a bung for the o2 sensor. Greddy is confusing me.

you got ur SP2 already? oOo...i'm gonna e-mail steve from SWA. once i get it i will confirm with you regarding rear o2.

well...from your picture it looks SS to me. also, on the box it says "sp2" so it seems right. if i get mine like that i, would just get a bolt and seal that spot...

good luck installing it mike

The SP2 is on back order for a month, but I called every online tuner shop that carried it for a maxima and found one that had 2 in stock. I didn't want to wait a month or more.

I ran into the same problem for my 95 SE with my SP2 system. I ended up plugging the "diagonal" hole in the pipe and I also reused the stock cat. From what I hear, the stock cats flow beautifully as compared to aftermarket cats anyways.

Sure, but I also have cattman headers so it won't sound the same as it would with an aftermarket or stock Y-pipe.

My cattman b-pipe had a bung in the b-pipe also.
The bung is a + think about it, put a racing pipe in place of the cat and plug the o2 into the b-pipe bung.

I don't know why the SP2 would be like that, Mike, because your logic is impeccable on this. I think that Greddy may have the applicable dates wrong in all of their advertisements. I just find it odd that no one pointed out this discrepancy before now...

Anyway, let us know how the install goes! What exhaust do you have in there currently?

Post up vids when you're done with the install Mike. I can host. I'd like to see/hear what the SP2 sounds with the Cattman headers/y.

And yes the SP2 for whatever reason comes with an extra bung, at least mine did too.
