URGENT!!! Need to know coupling sizes for injen.

i jus looked at my intake today and noticed i have a huge crack on one of my couplers for the injen intake clone. i dont know what happened but for the mean time i have it duct taped so nothing bad happens. but i need to replace this asap. i figure im gonna change all 3 since i h8 the ugly blue color. id rather get black, but any way does anyone know the sizes of the 3 silicone couplers for the ebay injen clone intake.

on a side note, im getting bored with the polished look on my intake, its hard to clean and it just looks too aftermarket ( i kno it might sound strange). well after painting my valve color id like to know if it would be possible to paint the intake piping. id like to go with a nice graphite/dark grey color. id just like to know if anyone has done it and does it come out nice?

im gonna go look to make sure. i didnt want to pull the intake off to measure them since its kinda dark now and i dont wanna mess up the coupler any more than it is now. atleast its still driveable. i coulda sworn that one end of the couplers were larger in diameter than the other end, it could be my imagination tho. thanx for the response tho.

no it doesn't... well, i ordered an injen clone from ebay, and ordered couplers from injen...

tb - mid pipe = 2 3/4" ... positive, because i ordered a 2 3/4 to 3 step hose like sober posted, because i thought the tb was 3" but its only 2 3/4 and so is the upper tube of the injen...

mid - maf sensor = 3 1/4" ... not sure though, a 3" will work but its a B**** to get on... id go with +1/4 and tighten the coupler...

maf adapter - extension pipe = 3" ... pretty sure, dont see why not...

its been awhile since though...

why dont you just measure the opening on them... thats why i did... ???

as far as painting... it will look fine, post pics when its done...

injen couplers, i remember i was gonna do that when i got the intake but i jus forgot about that. Thanx for bringing that up, i found a site and am gonna place an order for some black couplers, or maybe red couplers if i paint the intake pipes black. my strut bar is red and valve color is red. dont want to much red tho. well anyway just to clear things up this is what i need.

2 3/4 for the TB to 1st pipe
3 1/4 for pipe to MAF
3 for MAF to 2nd pipe then the filter jus goes on the pipe at the end.
is this all correct?

thanx for all the help guys u saved me alot of time, if it was early i would jus checked everything myself but it was already night and this cast on my arm is jus slowin me down. thnx JDM.

Now as far as painting the intake pipes... how does this go. is it just clean, primer and paint. is there a high temp primer available. paint doesnt look like it sticks to the surface of those pipes. i really dont want to go through the trouble and cost of going somewhere to get them powdercoated. i recently did my valve color in red and im very happy with the results, now im jus itchin to paint somethin else lol.

all PR/short ram intakes are 3" i believe, but the injen starts flush with the tb i guess to use a 2 3/4 coupler so they could print "injen" on in it...

i wouldn't recommend powdercoating simple parts like the intake... anything small, that doesn't get THAT hot can be painted... you know unless you want it chromed, then yes get that done... i painted my valve cover to using 1200* high temp paint from duplicolor... it probably wont ever come off and you intake should be the same...

i don't think you will NEED to prime it, but some people like the satisfaction of doing it... i know it will help stick better, but when you spray paint on something, it usually sticks... given rubber it doesn't and foam it melts... but some pipe i believe you will be fine...

SOB!!! i wish i saw that site! i ordered directly from injen... and my hoses were red cuz thats all they had i always wanted black...

your suggestions were 3" long as well... most couplers are only 2" long so i think the following will be sufficient... unless you wanted red... ?

X-3043 - 2.75
X-3044 - 3
X-3045 - 3.25

hope it helps!

thnx man....i did want red.... id like to paint the piping like a dark grey/gunmetal, or like a black chrome look.

i was thinking the same if i sand it, will it be like a rough texture after or will it be smoothed out with the primer?

oh! i remember now... well, i ordered from injenonline.com... and i just looked, and they don't have any 2.75 other than the step hose... thats why i got it... but it fits my short ram now so its all good...

then try (from your site...)

X-3023 - 2.75
X-3026 - 3
X-3029 - 3.25

id say just prime, sand it to smoothness, and paint... the only reason i say prime is because your pipe will be touched by couplers, and stuff, and the paint may rub off... so primer would get the job done right...

This is all gonna be an entire engine makeover for me since im gettin kinda bored with the way everything looks.

1)complete engine degreasing/cleaning
2)paint valve cover (complete)
3)paint intake piping
4)replace broken intake coupler/duct tape
5)maybe some wire loom

anything else im missing for an engine makeover, not tryin to do anything expensive jus some cheap DIY jobs.

you guys rock, ill try to have some pics for you when im done.
