dynomax super turbo
dynomax super turbo
I've got a couple of questions about this muffler. The part number given on maxmods (17748) for the 2.5" super turbo is for a center outlet, but an offset inlet (ours is center inlet and outlet). Will an exhaust shop be able to custom make a b-pipe that will fit correctly with this? About the sound: with a resonator, will there be drone in the 2k-3k range? That seems to be the worst part of the rpm range for noise with my essentially muffler-less exhaust that I have right now. Thanks alot!!!
an exhaust shop should be able to make the necessary bends to fit your muffler... i have the WSP "quiet" muffler, which is basically a clone of the supertubro and i love the sound... it is kinda too quiet for me, but i cant complain about it... although i don't have a y pipe yet either so thats probably why...

heheI have the exact one you are speaking of 17748 (2 1/2"). My exhaust shop did my install very well. They did custom RESONATED 2.5" bpipe. I would highly suggest getting the resonator, as I'm sure my WSP Y would be a whole lot louder without it.
I can't really speak from experience about the sound as I haven't rode in other modded maxes. But, listening to my car while others drive it, there is a very minute amount of sputtering. Definitely not fartiness(word?). Very quiet indeed.
About the droning, inside it cuts out at about 3k. The drone is not really drone, more of a nice low humming that increases slightly with more throttle. Not annoying in the slightest... to me at least.
I went this route with my exhaust because it was very affordable. Exhaust shop charged little under $200 to install y, cat, install/fab bpipe, and muffler. I'm very pleased with the outcome. Been riding with it for approx 6 months I think.
Ask meccanoble, I think he had this setup but didn't like it and took it off. So, I might be the only one here with it that actually likes it.

Hope this helps!
