Installation of Anniversary Edition shift ****

I tried to screw an AE shift **** onto my factory shifter, and it does not want to screw on. Looking inside, it does not even appear to be threaded. Is it supposed to be threaded, or is it "self tapping"? Is it necessary to push down hard in order to get it "started"? I didn't monkey with it too hard since I don't really care for it anyway (it's a bit slick, and basically the same **** as the one I have), and did not want to damage it in case I am able to return it. I bought it on eBay from maxspeed-motorsports.

Thanks.

BTW, it does not have a part number on it, nor does it say Nissan anywhere, but it did come in a "Nissan Genuine Parts" BOX.

It IS threaded on the inside. I finally got the light just right where I could see to the bottom and see the threads. It's weird that it doesn't want to screw on though. Maybe I'll give it another try when my son gets back with the car.
