Auto to Manual Tranny Swap

I want to swap from an auto to a manual tranny. Does anyone know the approximate price? How long does the process take, and does the car perform like a regular manual, or are there other complications?

. . .READ FAQ's, Stickies, etc. . . .

If the links are dead go to the dyno area, find HLH's and use the link to get to his homepage.

its not a weekend job....ur gonna need someone like a mechanic next to you during the entire process. I did mine and it took 4days to get it complete. It ran me $1200. And that was with a used tranny from a yard. And other misc. parts. Good luck with it.

dont' do it, it's not worth all the money you will be spending. it also takes alot of planning and expertise in this field. if you screw up, there is no telling what consequences you'll face doing it. in my area, even automotive mechanics are dodging from doing this conversion. maybe they are just a whole bunch of pu$$ies. but so far, no one would do it for my bro's auto maxima.

I did mine using a wrecked parts car with a good transmission. I highly recommend this method as you will have all the parts you need. It would have been very difficult and expensive to buy everything separately. With minimal mechanical experience it took a friend and I about a week. Running perfectly for 7mos now.
