trying different tire sizes question...

i have 215/35/19 on a 7.5 inch rim, they have little sidewall and curve in. best made for a 7 inch rim. so im looking to get 235/35/19 for a flat tire to rim. the only problem is my rims are 22 mm positive offset. i have one 235 mounted in the back and over only 1 large set of dips it sounded like it rubbed. will this cause any problems in the front with if i lowered it in the future.

your offset may be too low for this to work. have you tried the 215s yet at this offset? they may rub the inside. what is your spoke design - curved? flat? concave? convex? sounds like you're into the cruiser thing over speed. you could try spacers. sidewall also becomes taller relative to width. so if the 215s don't rub now, they just may when you change tread widths: your "35" will be taller at 235 -introducing more potential for rubbing on top inside if you drop the car.

for safety sake, while i'm at it, i will say that the rubber-band type of rubber you have on the 7.5 is not very stable for cornering.

the 215s dont rub neather do the 235 in the back at these time. other then me going over a very large set of dips at a speed to fast, so other then that the 235 never rubs on the back. i still have at least an inch from the strut tower on the inside of the tire well, and have about 1/4"-1/2" from the outer fender at its normal sitting camber with 300 pounds in the back. then again i may just run 235 in the back and 215s up front and have a stagered setup.

that's pretty incredible with such low offset. i see the dish/ spoke area is convex. this may be working for you. i have seen your car before on here, as i recall your unique wheels. good going.

i run staggered. looks tyte. 8s in rear, 6.5s in front.

why not try the 235 up front and see if it rubs?

btw, those wheels would look HUGE if you lowered the car
