it's the core of the tranny..what drives the gears.

are u getting a rebuild? maybe think about a conversion. chances are, you are going to kill the rebuilt even faster then the stock tranny.

i have a 93 auto and was thinking about getting it rebuilt. Would I need to worry about it blowing or does that just apply to the planetary problem?

Well.. Nissan isn't known for their strong transmissions, if you know what I mean, and if you drive a auto the risk of transmission failure is even greater. A lot of members on the org complain about problems even after a 2k dollar rebuild!.
3 ways to help prevent auto transmission failure
-Installing a transmission cooler
-Flushing the ATF about twice a year, depending on how many miles you drive.
-Don't abuse it, plain and simple, if you don't force the tranny to shift higher and pull harder then it's going to last longer.

....... this is why AUTO's Suck
