I just bought a 97SE 5speed. It has 55k miles. Does it have a timing belt or chain? Should I expect any major repairs at 60k miles? Please provide any useful insight.

 

No major repairs to be expected, just whatever is stated in your owners manual. The chain will last for a long time. The owners manual does not give any limits or checks on the chain because you should not have any problems with it and should not have a reason to do so.

 

I have a 1997 GLE Auto. I just got the 60K miles tune up. When I was there the mechanic was telling me I had a chain.
