Paint Day - Grill and Front Calipers...pics inside

Today was paint day....i painted my grill to match the black color of the car and also painted my front calipers gray....let me know that u think...I am going to buff polish and wax next week after it cures a bit and do rear calipers.

Before the paint...old faded factory gray

Sanded with 400 grit sand paper

Two coats of primer...then sand again with 600 grit

Finished with 2 coats of clear coat

Looks great, Kiosk. The finished grille looks like it came from the factory. Sure looks like a lot of work. Too bad the 2000/2001 grille is so tough to remove.

Damn, Kiosk, that looks so awesome and I am envious. I really wish I had the time to do that on my AE because I know that it would make it look just right. I am currently seeking a 5.5 inch Nissan emblem so I can remove the undersized grill emblem on my 01 and replace it. But I would want to paint my grill to at the same time. Would you be interested in doing a how-to writeup?

Wow, just read it, thanks Kiosk! If I can get a couple days off where I don't have much to do or need the car for, I might just go ahead and do it. I think I will spray the logo too though like one of the 5.5 gens on the board here has.

For those of us with gray-lustre, is there a duplicolor color that will work well in this application?

Like this? Super black grille and Smoke Grey Pearl (Testor's Boyd) for the emblem.

So, I see this and I am curious. The job looks really really great, what keeps me from doing this same kind of deal, but with, my hood for instance? As long as I use the proper kind of spray paint and the proper level of prep etc. would the finish look good? Or would it be readily noticeable? Honestly, I'd love to pay for a new paint job, but if I could do it myself, without having a professional booth it would be awesomeness.

Just a random thought, tell me where I'm wrong.

I wonder if there's a paint color called "super black with chips and dings" so it would match the rest of my bumper/front of hood

I will take more pics when I buff/polish in a few days....my hood and front bumper are all chipped also, right now the grill area looks better than the rest.
What do people think about a bra (not clear one) to cover up the front? rice or nice?
