MEVI burnout

I recently installed cattman headers, warpspeed MS cat, and Greddy SP2. Now, at WOT in first gear when MEVI kicks in at 5250 my tires cut loose all the way to redline. Does any one else with similar mods expierence this traction problem?

Your tires must be horrible. And this seems like BS because at MEVI switchover, there is no power added, it just keeps building and holds, but there are no power spikes to cause tires to break loose.

I run 245-45-17 Comp TAs and I can break the tires at 4500 rpm from a slow 1st roll -> then flooring it.

I know,I know i was kidding around but the truth is most maxima's can do this. Especially in first gear, Short gearing and decent torque are all that is needed. My MAX can do it. Now if he said his car was doing this in second gear that would be super cool but he has a pretty nice setup none the less.

Well, from what I understood from his post, he's at WOT, then suddenly, at MEVI switchover, it breaks loose.

I believe what Jeff said, because my cars do it if cruising ---> then floored, yes, possible, but not due to MEVI switchover alone as what seemed he meant by his post.

Just have your MEVI inspected every 30k miles. I hear that some of them fail, and the screws loosen up from the butterfly, and fall into the engine.

I would check it more often than that...to be safe I take my cover off and check the screws every Oil change

The small screws that attatch the butterfly to the actuator get loose and may fall in, but I've never heard of the actual butterfly getting sucked up.

I think I'm the only guy on the ORG that had all 12 butterfly screws injested into the engine without it blowing.

I know it is not the variable intake engaging that causes the tires to slip. Peak power is at higher rpm's which is amplified by the intake, possibly causing it to push the tires over the edge. Compared to a stock setup where the power curve falls off past 5k.
I used lock-tight on the butterfly screws, this worked very well, I just checked them after about 7k miles and they were all still tight.

Wouldn't the MEVI switchover at 5200rpm to Redline be pretty much a blink of the eye in 1st gear?

man...I have every NA mod known to man except headers, flywheel and cams and ever since I went from the USIM to MEVI, I can't break loose my tires from a roll in first no matter what I do...(I have goodyear GS-D3 235/45/17...brand new...and eibach springs, kyb gr2's)...with the USIM, with it's extra midrange....I was able to break it loose, but only with my old, crapped out 235/45 kumho's...wish my ride had that ability back...that was cool!!! bad for the tranny, but cool!!!
