2K3 Maxima GLE crank sensor recall

I have received the recall about 6 months back and have decided to take it in now. The SES light has never come on yet.

I am sure this is been covered to death but since search is not available I couldnt find it. Searched the FAQ's though.

Whats involved in this recall. The dealer wants 3 hours for the job. Is this an exterior engine part(on block) or is it behind the timing chain cover. I am assuming with the 3 hrs labour its behind the timing cover and all the accessories (p/s, alternator, idler pulleys etc) and other parts have to come off just for this. If this the case I am rather relunctant now to let even a nissan tech. touch my max. Its still new to me with only 14K miles in 2 yrs. Any advice?

I am correct in the assessment of the job.

Thanks to all those that help.

I had mine done about six months ago. It does involve some tinkering, but my suggestion is to find a dealer that you trust. Ask around, some are better then others. So far my luck with the dealer has been good, but it is due to me asking lots of questions right off the bat and willing to travel around to find a good service department.
