auto sux...is there hope?

hey guyss ...well its official i hate automatic and dont have the money to buy and/or trade in to get a 5 spd ....i heard from many machanics that there is a converion kit that you can make an AUTO a SLAP SHIFTER is this true ....?? this would really be cool for all the auto guys if it was true i heard about teh manumatic but i dont know if it is still made ...anyone know where i can get one if they make a manumatic or know where i can get the maxima slap shifter.... ireally want something/anythig to improve shifting, feel like im in control of my car and have more fun driving my car ... ARE THERE ANY CLUTCHHLESS SHIFT SYSTEMS OUT THERE EXCEPT SHIFTING YOU AUTOMATIC or anything to suit all the stressed out auto guys.... HELPPPPPPPPPPPP

p.s. anyone know how to make the red a clear or all black tails for the 96 max (read the stickies still confused any info would be great)

Hum i'd like to know about some sort of shifting for the auto myself. I know i can shift the car by using the gas. If i rev it up then keep it high i can get it to stay in the gear longer and go to a higher rpm, when i want it to shift, i let off, then put some pressure back on, and it will upshift, same w/ down shift if foot is off the gas, and you put a little back on it , it should downshift. I just wish i could do it w/ my hand

:-/

http://www.rcreations.com/manumatic/ The guy who came up with the 4th gen manumatic was going to make a large number but people didn't show enough interest. I'm not sure how many were made but a few people have told me 5-8. I was lucky enough to aquire one from a guy who bought one. I'l be installing it in about a week!

The only "kit" is buying everything you need and doing a huge swap. That manumatic thing is not an option because you cant even get it.

it clearly says in the FAQ's "no it's not possible to make them because they are a one piece lens."

the only way u can have red/clear tail lights is to either buy them already like that (very expensive) or buy all clear tails off ebay or something (also very expensive)... yes, u can smoke or tint your tail lights... personally i think it looks good, look in the faq's

This is a Red/Clear thread now.

FYI, there is a used Manumatic system for sale in the FS: section.

i saw one of the horsepower tv show that showed a device that can set gear shift at different rpm. i'm not sure if it is available for maxima.

shouldnt be more than shifting from the auto shifter , ur tcm will not allow you to shift if it will hurt your tranny

ps f550 that minivan ran mid 12, still funny to get beat by that how embarrasing

I'm sure everyone knows this but there is no comparison or even replacement for real 5 spd or 6spd etc. Some systems may even be faster but nothing can be compared to a clutch.... You can't feather the shift button around a corner to hit a fishtail in 2nd.. Nothing makes me happier then popping the clutch right.. I guess pressing a button or even just moving a stick up or down still makes me feel like the car is driving me rather than me driving it. SO, if you want a 5sp, don't even bother with other mods, I dont think I coulda been forced into buying an autotragic =P
