I'm considering getting in on the warpspeed deal, but I'm getting mixed feeling about people's installs. Sounds like it might be more trouble than it's worth. Any thoughts?

I have a question...

if your not going with forced induction and you want to keep your engine NA, should you go with 2.5' or 3' y-pipe? i believe that warpspeed only has the 2.5' for the VQ but is working on the 3' y-pipe. where as, cattman and stillen are 3'. i think this is correct, please correct me if i am wrong.

Re: Re: I have a question...

that doesnt answer my question!

its a pic i got a while ago when i had an acura legend and i was on the legends board. if i remember correctly, it is Honda's concept car to compete with the M5. it suppose to be the new Acura RL sports version that will be running around $70-80k. dont take my word for any of this though, i got the pic a long time ago, saved it as 'M5 Fighter'.

Re: I have a question...

you won't see any gains with a 3" y pipe on an N/A car.. stick with the 2.5 pipe... cattman makes the 3"

3" may be too big

We have been working with Steve in Chicago who has a supercharged gen 4. He has been running our 3" Y pipe with a 3" modified cat. He dynoed the car this weekend and it looks as though there was no improvement using the 3" pipe vs a stillen pipe. We are going to send Steve a 2-1/2" pipe to dyno next.

Our feeling is that the 3" is just too big for the Maxima, we use a 3" on our Jeep systems for the V8's and it works well. That is with the 4.7, 5.2 and 5.9 engines. The 3.0 might be better off with a 2-1/2".

We would be willing to let someone else try it though.

regards
Dallas

If interested just give me a call.

To tell you the truth, I had some rattles at first, but I quickly found the problem, a bracket I had to move a little with some washers, and I haven't had any problems since. No Ecu codes, exaust leaks, or other rattles. The sound has increased slightly, but most of it is from the PR CAI, and I can't hear it usually with the radio on, but it does sound nice with hard acceleration. I was really impressed with how easily everything fit, and the biggest benefit is the added power, nothing but grins here. I'm going to baseline the car this Sunday, I'll post when I get some numbers.

Not sure

I just had my WSP pipe installed saturday and now i'm missing an O2 sensor which is setting off my knock sensor, i know because i ran the codes off the ECU. I had a very! bad rattle at first and now it's small and intermintent. I hope to get rid of it once and for all this week. I'm also going to the 1320' next week once i have the O2 sensor and hope to fun low 15's with all my mods so far. Then once i have NOS i hope 13's, high 13's but still 13's. It sounds nice when it doesn't rattle though. I like the pipe but the rattle might be worth an extra 100 to not have.

dmbmaxima88,
Did you check the isolator bracket at the cat-Y-pipe section yet? If not, I can guarentee that your rattle is coming from there. The bracket rubs back and forth and vibrates with the movement of the engine/exaust, which is what makes that awful sound. I didn't have any problems with my 02 sensors, but I installed it myself being very careful (I've read of others nightmares) with them. The shop that installed yours might not have been so gentle, but there fragile too, so who knows. Good luck at the track man, My best run was a 15.4 with PR CAI and WSP Y-pipe on stock 15's. Good luck with your rattle too, if ya need any help just email me.

umm...i love my y-pipe except for that "bees in a can" sound...it pulls really great right off the line and peels like crazy if i floor it...overall i think it was worth it...15hp for $300...that's pretty damn good...i've driven my car for more than 200 miles...i will reset the ecu after i install my CAI like this weekend
