Stock '01 vs '03 muffler

Was there any changes made between the oem 2001 and oem 2003 Maxima rear muffler? I know that it went to a slightly bigger motor but do the mufflers flow exactly the same?

I believe they are the same. Cuz they don't look different execpt for that strange exhaust tip on the 5 gen that the 5.5 don't have.

The mufflers are identical variable flow mufflers. I just talked to DAVEB today

If our tips were about 1" wider, they would look so much better.

Does this mean in theory I can put the 5 gen muffler tip (the rectangular oval-looking thingamabob) onto my 5.5 gen muffler?

Isn't the '00-01 "tip" simply a chrome cover over the two outlets in comparison to the '02-03 which have chrome individual tips instead of the single cover?

For sure, the 00/01 exhaust tips would definitely make Pontiac GTP and Subaru SVX enthusiasts proud.

You can get the HID wiring harness kit from Courtesy Nissan for $35 (that's where I got them). You'll need the 02/03 lower headlight clips too (get them at any Nissan dealership for $4/pair).

I just called Courtesy spoke with David, he need to search for the parts but would you happend to have the parts numbers, that would save him time from searching.

Thanks for helping.

ae mufflers are the same as well, just the I30 tips on it. the only difference in the exhaust is the b pipe which has a different part number from other 2k1's.

Isn't the 5.5 tips pointed slightly down? If you slap that "oval-looking thingamabob" on it. It'll look like you back your muffler into something no?

5.5 tips prevent you from sliding the sleeve on the 00-01 mufflers on. Only the AE 01 mufflers are pointed towards like fangs

no the AE muffler gave out 5 more horses than the stock 2k-2k1 mufflers. that was why the AE maxima had more horses then the 2k-2k1 maximas.

check the part number if you want, only difference is the tip. its exactly the same internally and externally aside from the tips.

the AE maxima just features a different part number for the ecu and the b-pipe. THe gains of 5hp could be a marketing ploy, very much like the 255hp 02-03 maximas in comparison to the 02-03 altimas

They look pretty level. I'm betting if I took off the stock tips I could put the 00-01 finisher on it. The stock tips are listed as separate parts than the muffler so I think they'd just come off. Something I'll look into when the weather is better.

you guys mean that the 6th gen maxima and the new altima have the duel muffler. the exhaust is not actually dual where it would run straight from the headers to the muffler.
