Which one is best the super flow or the flex section?

 

I'm thinking the new one, but those are 4th gen y-pipes

 

its the pic wsp put on there ebay, i think im gonna try the superflo.

 

If it would have been out when I bought mine I probably would have aswell.
What is the price difference? Dont forget to mention your from maxima.org.

the second one uses what I was told is a buick ball. Others probably have names for it as well but a long time ago that is what I was told it was called. It is supposed to be very reliable and not leak. A friend of mine put them on his car because he was tired of the gasket blowing between his headers and exhaust. he loved it but am not sure how well it will work for our cars since it needs to flex. I am sure they have tested them and they work fine though. You may call them up and ask if it leaks at all. I hate exhaust leaks.

the "buick ball" is the flex. There are springs on the bolts and it is a semicircular ball fitting so it can move without losing seal.

Yeah I know that but to me it doesnt seem it would work as well if it had to move very much...then again I dont even know how much it needs to move. grab a new flex section (quality type with mesh inside and out) and see how much it moves.
BTW Toyota uses those joints on a number of cars.

 

Ummm so what part of my post am I disagreeing with you. I admited I didnt know how much it needed to move.

BTW I need to call you on some stuff. I will either do that today or tomorrow...probably tomorrow since I am heading out of town for most of the day.

 

I wasn't implying that you were disagreeing with me. just that way you would see how much or actually how little a flex section moves.

the flex section on the new Y-pipe barely flexes, but on my old OEM Y-pipe from the 00 GLE was very flexable, possibly due to age? You could jiggle to front portion of the Y-pipe and the rear would jiggle at its own pace.

 

you could have bought mine for a little cheaper. it doesn't leak either.

 

The flex sections on the original Cattman Ys for the Ve were way too short. They were very stiff. TOO stiff. IMHO vibrations from the engine + the overly short/stiff flex = broken accordian section inside + exhaust leaks. I blew 2 sections before getting pissed enough to hack it off, add my own longer flex and welding in a new 4-gen hi flow cat (to replace the idiotic RT cat)

This is one of the many reasons I bought myself a mig welder and went to town. For what I had to pay someone to fix this stupid short flex 2-3 times, I probably could have purchased 2 more Y pipes. Not to mention the loss of hp that these leaky flex sections cause.

Well after having the superflo model on i can say that it was worth every penny!
This thing is awesome, you can definately feel a gain from about 3000-4500 rpm especialy when you want to pull away at high speeds. And it is much quieter than stock. I love it.
Installing it was a sinch, bolted on with ease, no fitment or rust problems with bolts. Thank you WSP, i am very satisfied.

The only problem i am having is that it is vibrating on the sway bar. I just replaced my motor mounts, and my car i clunking really bad into gear ... all before y-pipe.
So i think i just need to replace my tps, and warranty my new broken mount after words, i think that should fix my problems.

 

Man I wish WSP offered those type of joints for in between the cat and the end of their y-pipe. I've been having hardcore leaking problems at that joint for over a year now, and nothing I do stops it.

Anybody else have massive leak issues there?

is the flange still square?

take a straight edge and run it across it. worst comes to worst have blehmy weld the ball style coupler there instead like Jeffy has
