ABS actuator leak

Hi all. I'm a newbie trying to purchase a 91 SE. I took it to get a brake inspection to make sure everything checks out before I get a state inspection because the car has basically been sitting for a year..started up occasionally.
As I was driving I noticed the brakes were mushy and didnt stop very well..even a little shake at stopping. Also noticed a weird sound from the underside front of the car. The guy at the shop told me that the ABS brake actuator was leaking and it would cost $1400 to replace!!! Anyway, obviously I'm not going to pay that for a 13 yr old car. I really like the car and want it though. Otherwise it is in great condition and I need a 2nd vehicle . I have been trying to find a used part on the internet but no luck so far. My question is, can anyone point me in the right direction? If I can find a used one reasonably priced and get it installed so the brakes work and it can pass inspection, I still want to buy the car. I am not mechanically inclined so will have to find someone in the Houston area to install (if anyone knows a good shop).

Thanks in advance.

Look if your going to get that cheep your going to have to do it yourself. I had the same prob with my brothers Lexus and we got a new ABS actuator (pump) for like $130.00, you live in houston so just drive up North Sheperd or Airline, there are plenty of junkyards there im sure you'll find something.

here is a number for a junk yard in passadena where I know they have a maxima called them up ask for a price 713-477-1000

sorry did not read the post right, did the guy said it was Leaking or bad, if its leaking, did he say from where? could be just a brake line is loose and needs tightenning. if its bad like pump (abs acutator) wont regulate the brake fluid presure, then replace it.

Well I took it to Firestone for the oil change and they are the ones who checked it, so who knows if they know what the heck they are talking about, but I paid for them to do a complete brake inspection and the guy said the actuator unit was leaking and showed me where there was oil pooled up around the unit. FYI,
I would not ever take it to them to do the actual work but to a real Nissan mechanic..or do it myself it it wasn't too hard.
