How do I make the door handles black? They are chrome now but I want em black. Can make them black somehow without taking them off to paint?

Seriously, if you meant you want to replace the "chrome" handles, then i suggest you hit the junkyard and look for some black handles...I doubt paint would stick well to the OEM chrome, and would rub off eventually over time.....If you ARE going to paint it, you will have a hard time matching the color of the car...

 

haha yea I meant chrome.. but if I do find them on a junkyard is the installation hard and do I have to take a lot of stuff apart?

 

haven't done it in the maxima, but it shouldnt be too difficult based on other cars I've done it on....

 

All right sounds good. I gota tottaly black my car out. Black rims black handles.

so far i got a black max wit limo tints everywhere and black halo projector lights so now i gota get sum black rims n handles n that would b it. then sum subs n ill b pimpin

 

the install isnt easy but it is not THAT hard. you need to take off the interior door panel to get easy access. if you want to do this soon i will be in chicago over the chrismas holiday and would be willing to help you out. i have a ESM and it shows pretty clearly what needs to be done

 

i wanna do this when i get my car painted for my lip kit in the spring...couldnt they just sand down the chrome on the handles and paint over that?

 

i have a set of four black handles that fit 00-03 if u want to trade for your GLE handles....lemme know

 

If you're going for the all-blackout look, take a look at:

Speaking of blacking things out has anyone blacked out the chrome lining around the windows?

 

Yup.. a few other guys have done it as well. Makes a blk max look sooo much better...

I used trimbrite blackout tape: trimbrite

I doubt it, but if you have a nice tint on your car, the black trim is prob gonna look really nice too.

 

Possibly... no tint yet, but even if I do it, it won't be a whole lot...

 

im also interested in black handles, willing to swap my chromes if anyone got spare ones.
