i had to pull off my doorskin in the snow this morning because my door was latched shut while it was open and it wouldnt change so it wouldnt close, and in the dark i tried to get the outer ring for the inner door handle off and it snapped in 2 pieces. anyone know how much a new ring would be ? its the ring that holds the cup behind the inner handle in. if i could find a used one that would work too... mine is grey ... thanks

i think you are talking about the estucheon (sp?). you can get them from nissan for like $10-20 I believe

 

that issue baffles me, you took the DOORSKIN off? im a body repair tech. why did you take the skin off? i assume you mean the "safety strap" which holds the door open was stuck?you should be able to access that by just removing the inner door panel, door "skins" are ***** to do in your driveway, you need adhesive bond(super dooper glue) to put it back on. ive never worked on a maxima door, but im also not sure what you mean by cup behind inner handle, what does the cup do?

 

If you're a bodyman, I'm sure you figured it out that he's talking about an inner trim panel. That "cup" he's talking about is an escutcheon. That's the piece that the inner door handle goes through on the trim panel. (Matt 01SE 20th got in right on the nose!) Check with the dealer. The part is so cheap, it's not even worth the effort to hunt it down at a junk yard.
