the story:
my 20 year old stepbrother, who i am very close to, had a car accident on the evening of 12-10-04 and was severely injured. he had to avoid a car stopped in the road as he topped a hill and he avoided it, but the shoulder was soft and forced him into a stand of trees, completely totalling the car. he sustained severe head injuries, most of the bones on his left side are broken, his neck is broken, his lungs are punctured and he's in a coma. the extent of the brain damage is unknown, but there is really no chance that he'll ever be the same. he had no health insurance and will be left with well over $100,000 in bills, not to mention the reconstructive surgery that will be necessary to make him look human again. any and all donations will be greatly appreciated more than you'll ever know. he was a great guy and would do anything for anyone, requiring nothing in return.

I'm really sorry to hear about your stepbrother, but its a little hard to believe without any real proof like a website or documents, etc.. Anyway, good luck with it, but I don't think you're going to get any donations without any backup. Its just doens't look legit...

a seat belt more than likely would have caused him to be cut in half.....the tree hit right before the b-pillar and basically bashed his left side.....he wasn't speeding (doing 45 in a 45), never drove like a dumbass or aggressively, and just literally lost in the game of chance....the passenger was able to run 2 miles through the woods to his house and deny involvement in the whole thing, he was without a belt too......
if he couldn't have been knocked over as little as he was, then his body would have been crushed a lot more.......i always wear a belt and tell others the same thing, most accidents aren't side impact, but in this case, it wouldn't have helped....would have killed him or done no good at all....your head is only inches from the door in a perfectly seated/belted position.....they don't stop everything
saw a gentleman burn alive because they couldn't get the belt off/cut before the fire got too hot to be around.....you could hear him screaming for someone to shoot him.....without a belt he may be alive too.....but i understand you and agree in most cases, but not in this one
thanks to all for the concern though, really

no i mean NICU (neurological intensive care unit) for people with severe brain trauma.....people with severe strokes go there too......his skull crushed his brain and cut it up.....it swelled and they had to drill a 1/2" hole in his head to relieve the pressure.....if not, he would have died......
Ah, sorry. The hospital at which I work only has a Neonatal ICU.
I hope it pulls through and gets back to normal. But you must understand it's going to take some time and don't do anything stupid like finding that kid. Lets the cops do their part. Your part is to be as supportive as possible.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you AND your family and a hope that some "devine intervention" will allow for him a speedy recovery.

This is why the US health care system sucks. I feel for you man. This will take time but have patience. It will get better although he may have some permanent neurologic damage.
bump...he's doing better kinda.....got the tube out of his brain, still in a coma though....they punctured his lung on accident with the respirator tube and he's got pneumonia.....but he's ok for what has happened......still no clue as to how bad the brain damage will be
still needs donations
still needs donations
bump.......still technically in a coma but they say it's more like a "living dream" state....has responded intentionally a few times, but overall still can't......he's having seizures about 90% of the day, had to remove his gall bladder, has a staph infection, but he is breathing on his own about 3 hours a day when they turn the respirator off, but everytime something good happens, something bad seems to happen as well....he's tough though
God bless man. im sorry i cant donate, but he will definitley be in my prayers. at least he is doing better, whether its just barely better or significant better, he is improving.
just keep your head up and him in your prayers.
just keep your head up and him in your prayers.
good luck, if i could donate i would maybe possibly in the near future i will be able to. I hope everything turns out well, what was the point of the passenger running home and denying involvement?
