Help ! Need Struts ! Advice ??

My Nissan dealer said I will need shocks to pass inspection.

Is this something that an auto center can do safely - or is this something that I must be prostitute to the Nissan dealership ?

Important to use Nissan genuine parts ?

Any recommendations regarding a supplier and part number for a good pair of struts ?

Any idea of total cost for both strut and alignment to be done ?

If you want to stick with factory like struts, get Tokico HP's. Don't pay the dealer. Any shop should be able to swap them out.

HP's are about $285 on ebay including shipping. Charges from shop to shop vary a lot. You should be looking at around $200 for the installation or free if you can do it yourself. Allignment is about $60 or so.

You don't need to take it to the dealer, they will overcharge you. Most small mechanics or auto centers can do the job for much less, but it is your job to make sure they use quality products. Tockico, KYB, or Monroe are all good names in struts.

If you want to upgrade to adjustable Tokico Illuminas are the most popular, or KYB AGX, or Koni's, but stay away from dealer!
