Better replace the rear main seal while your there. Only take a few min. and there under 20.00. Proably buy seals for the shafts that go into the tranny. Cooler's a great idea if its a automatic. That's about it..
Have a good time!

Order all the gaskets from the dealership. Get quality parts b/c the seals that you will replace while the tranny is out are very hard to get to. Don't skimp on them.

Get the rear main oil seal, rear main oil seal retainer gasket, and a rear oil pan "C" shaped seal if there is one on the 4th gen. Get new axle seals also.

Also, get a high stall torque converter!! Call Andre at www.edgeracingconverters.com ... he will be able to hook you up with a GREAT product and awesome customer service. He will be able to ship you a torque converter and you might not have to ship back a core. Ask him when you call him. I think I got my torque converter for under $400 shipped.

Once the tranny is out, it takes 30 seconds to swap the torque converter. Other than that, just get a tranny cooler, that is a MUST. I can't think of anything else. Have fun!

I will get the rear main kit, but I have a 5th gen and I am having NRH Transmissions do my tranny, he is also going to make it posi and add hardened axles, will I still need to do axle seals??
What exactly does a torque converter do?? I think I know but don't want to thinks so and answer, my Wife will be using this car as a daily driver, including during the winter so, what should I have for a stall on the torque converter?? Please explain exactly how a TC works and what it does.
Thanks
Gabe

A higher stall torque converter will allow you to launch your car at a higher rpm, which provides more power to the wheels on the launch. My stock stall is 1800. So that means, when I launch my car, the revs rise to 1800, and THEN the car moves. That is the flash stall. Now, with my TC, I launch my car and I see 2500 before the car moves. It puts more power to the ground instantly.

If your wife will be driving it and you want it to remain streetable, get a stall between 2500-3000. Anything over 3000 rpm, and it will be harder to drive around down. The TC will slip more and you will have to apply more gas at partial throttle to get the car to move. But if you get an NRH streetable TC, trust me, it's NOT a problem driving around town. I can barely tell a difference on my car at partial throttle. But at WOT launches, it's a NICE difference! Talk to NRH about a higher stall TC, they will hook you up with a nice streetable TC. Anything over 3000 rpm stall will build up a lot of heat in the tranny b/c of the added slippage. But a streetable TC is perfect for the street and daily city driving.

If NRH is installing hardened axles themselves, then they will most likely put in new axle seals. Ask them to see what gaskets they will be replacing.

BTW, how much are they charging you? I am seriously considering building a better auto tranny in the NEAR future. I'm in FL, so I dunno what my options are.

First off thanks for all of the info, so what your saying is the only way the stall will be used is at WOT otherwise it is like normal driving?? Second off, NRH is in Maryland, they are shipping me a crate to ship my tranny back to them, and he said if I got everything the best that he sells for the car $2500.

Wow! That's not bad at all. Does that include shipping? Shipping costs would add a few hundred I'm sure.

Yes, at partial throttle, you will notice a little difference. You will notice that you have to push the throttle a TINY bit more to get the car to move like it did before at partial throttle. At WOT, the tires should spin much worse! My city gas mileage did not drop noticably... my guess is .5mpg decrease in the city and same, if not better on the highway. You might get better gas mileage on the highway just b/c my torque converter locks up at a lower rpm in 4th gear, so I am revving lower at the same speed.
