Lexus yellow fogs....writeup coming soon.

My modem is entirely too pathetic tonight...but.

I just did the Lexus yellow fogs, similar to AKOGAN did (credit to him for finding the parts!). Only difference is that that 2000-2001 fogs have a little more room (yellow cap wasn't even close to the lens), plastic lens (little more careful removal), and I left the legs on the yellow "condom" with a gap at the bottom so the inner bulb won't get as hot (in threory)...

the results: awesome. Looks just like his....!

Just letting you all know that I'll be posting a how-to with pics this weekend (probably) so don't leave your computer!!! j/k

I just did some night driving, and must say that even with this done, they will still be useless for fog With the reflector cap piece removed, there does seem to be MUCH better light diffusion to the sides of the car (which is nice), but also some upward (bad for fog).

Either way, though....the original fogs were useless for fog conditions as well, and with this change at least it looks better than the Narva/Lamin-x color I had before.

One note, as was mentioned in the previous thread - this setup color is slightly MORE orange than Lexus' setup (I am using my OEM fog bulbs, NOT the Narvas right now)....it's truly a "deep" yellow with a hint of orange...looks very nice and certainly attracted some looks when I drove by a local strip mall. In the dark, it gives the car an "expensive" look (until people realize it's "just a maxima" )

so....sorry bout the teasing, I'll have some pics up eventually!!!

Id do these too, but i ust feel it might look goofy with the DDE"s and all my polarg hyper whites. I'd be curious to see it tho.

Show us the pics then !

Nice, I hope you enjoy your fogs. I like mine so far. How hard was it for you do get your housing open? Hope to see some pictures.

I was really thinking of doing this because I thought the yellow would be much better in the fog. But if it's not, I may go with some Super Plasmas.

I'd like to see your pics and impressions of the install before I decide, though.

Remains to be seen if it's of any use in the fog...but does give better visibility to the sides of the car (almost like clearance turn lights on the 4th gens)....I like the look too, so it's good enough for me!

AKOGAN...I didn't have much trouble opening the housing....10 mins in the oven at 300 and I pried the lenses off easily....the hardest part/PITA was getting all the old sealant out of that groove where the lens goes in so I could put new silicone in there!

Irish, you said there is light escaping upward? Do you think aiming the fogs lower might help for fog?
