cv boots gone bad?? help needed

cv boots gone bad?? help needed
When it's time to change the cv boots, do you hear something loose and rattle? I definetely hear something that's loose and it rattles at times and it's definetely comming from the front of the car.
It's been like this for a while now (i think about 8 months).
How can I find out if my cv boots are bad? Thanks
