5th generation bose stereo problem

I have a 2002 Maxima and the stereo is causing problems. I have heard that mine is not an isolated event.
What gives and what is the fix. On cd the speakers on one side of the car fade in and out.

This is a common problem with the Bose CD unit. I'd love to be able to give you good news like the design flaw has been fixed, but I'd be lying then. I've had mine replaced 3 times now and I'm getting quite annoyed. It's not like CD technology is brand new. In any case, bring it in and they'll replace it for you with a refurbished unit. Expect that one to last just as long as your current unit.

HU problem fixed

After going through a few HU's from the dealer, I decided to fix the problem myself.

Sorry it is not a clear photo but that is an Alpine CDA-9835. I also replaced my FM modulated SIRIUS tuner with the Alpine compatible tuner.

Problems fixed!

I replaced my HU once under warranty... seems to work fine now... get the cd skip sometimes in the cold... the fade was only in and out of the left side, but its gone away... for now...

Perhaps you haven't heard of Speed Controlled Volume?

Best way to fix this problen permanently...get an aftermarket system. I got so tired of my crappy Bose sytem so I switched to a Pioneer HU, Infinity speakers, and a JL Audio sub. I have been happy ever since. The sound quality is so much better than the Bose.
