maybe you should research things before you speak. Im using a 3.0 chain and it doesnt need VTC it basically only helps low rpm performance. VI is not needed at all believe me. Both of these things will mostly improve low rpm power and what do i need that for i cant hook so as it is.

Is this the motor with the VQ35 bottom end and the VQ30 heads and such? If so the 'full VQ35DE' in the title was misleading for me.

Even if it is the full VQ35 from intake manifold to oil pan, it just doesn't seem complete without functioning VTC's. I do need to research the VQ35's setup, but I know on the VE you loose a good ammount of highend and/or lowend if the VTC's are not setup correctly.

Full VQ35 with 4th gen ecu is not possible using the VTC. VI is just uneeded just ask the guys running 3.5, Sr20den has no VI, and whats he putting down???260+

have any info on the VQ35 VTC's? If it's anything like the VE you can run it based on RPM, although like the VE's power valve, it is better to just let the ECU deal with it since its load based.

regaurdless I admire all the work you've put into your car and research

edit: are the VQ35's VTCs on the exhaust cams only? VE's is on the intake cams FWIW. I never really looked into it much since I dont have one nor have any friends who do to tinker with.

Really? I thought it was the extra 0.5L!

As already stated, the VI and VTC is mainly for improving low-end responsiveness, and will help the automatic guys more who have longer gears where the engine will be at low revs more of the time. Good God though, put a torque monster VQ35DE in a lightweight 4g body with a manual and you have a beast on your hands. Believe me, you don't need the VTC's or VI.

Your analogy isn't really a good one. A better one would be swapping an MEVI or 00VI onto a 4g VQ30DE, but then always leaving it in the low-RPM profile. It defeats the purpose since the whole purpose of those is to improve the top-end, like VTEC. You're never changing displacement. But a VQ35 into a 4g has a lot of purpose. More power! VI/VTC or no VI/VTC, you're getting a ton more of it and that stuff has nothing to do with it. The displacement does.

Yes, but just switch it over with the VI. If it is frequency controlled or voltage controlled item that would be easy too. Why cant it be done?
