18s or 17s
18s or 17s
who's got 18s and who's got 17s? which are better and why? i'm thinking about getting them and i want performance along with looking good, but i dont want to end up a couple months with dents in the rims and my car shaking all over the place. someone help
I say go for the looks and 18's.. 17's don't look too much larger than 18's. As long as you get a good quality rim i doubt you have to worry too much about denting. Plus, it's not like we have race cars, the little bit of performance probably doesn't matter, unless you go to the track all the time, etc.
17s are nice bet look nice and dont loose acceleration (rotational mass energy) and some 17's look just as big as 18's and some 18's look like 17's, plus 17's are cheaper, lighter, and tires are not out of this world too afford..(a quality tire that is)
Heavy rims do much more than negatively effect acceleration. They also greatly effect braking. Get a nice light 17x8 and you won't have a problem with bending rims or reducing performance. Its the blend of the best. Form and function must coexist.

amenyou seem to want performance but still have a decent look, 17s seems to be the middle ground.
I'm not sure if you have lowering springs or not? If not get some. Then get what fits your budget and what would be feasible for your areas road conditions. Anything bigger than 18" and you will be driving like an old lady if roads are rough. If you plan on entering shows and stuff like that don't get 17"s they'll have you leaving the shows feeling inadequate, if you get what I'm saying.
it doesnt matter if you get 17s or 18s, either way it will look like crap without lowering your car on springs or coilovers first. so make sure you account for the money its going to cost to lower your car in your wheel and tire budget. that is unless you like going offroad in your max, because youll definitly have a 4x4 with 18s and no drop.
