Blew my tranny, wierdest thing ever.....

So this past sunday I noticed my speedometer was messing up. I would reach a certain speed, it would be fine but if i let go of the gas pedal the speedometer needle would drop to zero while im still going that speed. Following me so far? So I though a while ago when I installed my indiglo gauges I mighta messed something up and didnt really pay that much attention to it for the rest of the day. Come 11 pm I gotta drop my gf off about 35 min from where I was sleeping over. As were driving I ask her, is it me or is the car a lot louder than usual, like 1st and 2nd gear were terribly loud. As soon as i said that I came to a red lgith and stopped, tried going into first gear off the light wont go, tried 2nd gear wont go, so im like sh!it my clutch went, but 3rd 4th and 5th gears were fine. And my clutch peddal is still stiff like its not dropping to the floor when a cluch brakes. So im sitting there trying to figure out what to do, I left the car outside her house in west philly ( not a good part to leave anything there). Next day my dad came up and we towed it to my dads shop. Picked it up on the lift and there was oil all over the undercarage. Were like wtf mate....!!!!!!! So what has happened was my speedometer sensor somehow popped outta my tranny ( btw its secure in tehre, i mean u cant take it out if you tried pulling on with with pliers i know i tried taking out on the new tranny) So all the oil dumped outta the tranny and i basically blew it. BUt the thing is I didnt notice one thing untill it was too late. So this yesterday i got a new 5 speed tranny that has 60k on it for 350$$ great deal btw. INstalled today works like a charm. Yeah so if your speedometer starts acting up check the speedometer reader in the tranny before its too late. Ill take some pics and show you guys sometime tomorrow.

High Jack stands, A couple of jacks, and a lot of time and muscle. A couple willing friends helps. I've had mine out of the max twice and changed an automatic out on a Hyundai once (Their auto tranny's suck).

My dad owns a shop so i just put it on the lift there and it was basically over from there, had all the tools, helpers etc, tok about an hour and a half, but what a way to blow a tranny eh? Btw if anyone needs a 5 speed tranny let me know i can most likely get hook ups over here.

sorry to hear that man but on the bright side atleast you got one cheap and you were able to install it yourself. thanks for the heads up? My one question is did you replace the gear oil recently? i thought the speedo sensor was secured by a bolt? i know one of the write ups for changing gear lube online says to remove the sender to drain to the oil maybe if wasn't secure properly?
