Yes. All VQ30s have them.

VQ35s do not.

Thanks, I wanted to run a 35 shot (or so) with this system, but it says no fuel return line.

Cali spec DE-K motors do not have a fuel return line. Look at your fuel rail, right by the VIAS switchover diaphram you will see 2 regulators, There really is only one fuel line.

It can only be a returnless system if the fuel regulator is in the fuel tank. I have never seen any flavor of DE-K on my lift at the shop that didnt have the fuel return line. Sloppymax has a '01 AE which is a 4 O2 sensor Cali spec car. I changed his fuel filter which is in the fuel tank and it did have the return line and line fitting on the top of the cartridge. His regulator is exactly where it says it is in the ESM and not in the fuel tank like my 2k2. If you have something different then I certainly want to see it for future reference.

Another customer of mine has a '00 Fed spec car and it is exactly the same. I also removed his in tank pump and fuel filter to replace them. It did have the fuel return line and line inlet on the top of the cartridge.

Us 5th gen don't run dry shot of nitrous because there is no fuel return line. That's the reason we only run wet shot.

That is what I've always read in the nitrous system. I"m not talking from first had experience so hopefully BlackBIRDVQ and SR20DEN can clear this up for you.

I'll be back with pictures tomorrow, but I will show ya a DE-K with no return line. I didn't have the time to take pictures of it today.

If it is your car, put it on the lift and get pictures of the fuel line carriage as well. And also pop the rear seat cushin out and take a pic of the top of the fuel tank.

I just checked mine, (2000 fed spec) and it does have the "fuel return hose," that is in the pic.

Thanks for the help SR20DEN. Are you familiar with the zex "dry" kits. I just want a sneaky small shot 35-55 max. I'm not sure about the vacuum ported fuel pressure regulator and throttle position sensor voltage part though.

# ZEX™ Nitrous Compatibility Checklist

* Engine must have a vacuum ported fuel pressure regulator
* Throttle position sensor voltage must pass the following test:
o Locate the T.P.S. (usually directly across from throttle linkage)
o Turn ignition to on position (do not start engine)
o Using a digital voltmeter, check each wire for a low voltage reading of approximately 1 volt.
o Only one wire should have this low voltage with the throttle closed
o While on that same wire, open the throttle completely and check the voltage reading
o If your voltage reads 4.2 volts or higher, you are ready to install your ZEX nitrous kit

ok, let ME set this straight!! not only do i have an 2k1 cali spec max but i'm a tech for a nissan dealer and have been for over 6 yrs, and i have worked on atleast 5,000 2k and 2k1 maxima's and of all 5k not one of them had only i fuel line. THEY ALL HAVE A FUEL RETURN LINE. PERIOD........................................ if you want more proof,
what is the main reason stillen has left out all you 2k2 and up guys on the supercharger?

ANSWER: they 2k2 and NEWER have NO return line, which untill recently was the main reason stillen did not include all vq3.5 motors......

ALL vq30 motors in maxima's have fuel systems with a fuel return line, 2k and 2k1 do NOT have a servicable fuel filter but it does not mean there are not 2 lines, because there are and a gaurantee that they all do

Actually the main reason is the VTC protrusion on the front cover. The SC simply cant fit.

I have replaced two of them for customers of mine. The filters are in the fuel tank as part of the fuel pump assembly.

Any Zex or NOS dry kit will work fine on your car. But if you want to go with a more potent shot you should use a wet kit.
