I can now drive my car, but

Lets go back a bit
I bought my 83 max in june last year from a guy who did not have the ownership for it. He lives on a small Island near Victoria B.C. he said I could get the ownership from the girl he got the car from. I knew I could run into a problem with all of this because I went through a lot of paper work B.S. for my Mini. So I bought it anyways. Cost $400. with a hand written reciept from him. I got in contact with the girl Her summer home is on the same Island as that guy and her winter home is in Texas. She would not give me a sales reciept for the car but I got a gift reciept insted. Now what I didn't know was that she did not have the title with her. It was back in Texas. And She wasn't going back there until Nov. 2. That was the last time I heard from her. From there I got in contact with the DMV in California. Why California and not Texas, Becauser the Texas police ran the VIN and said that the car was never in texas. The car has all the California emissions stickers on it. So I tried Califronia DMV next. They told me that the car was there but the last record file was " out of state". I thought that this was the end of the road. After many phone call to the DMV I got the right person to talk to. She told me I have to fill out froms , copy of drivers licence. sales reciept. and I will get the ownership in the mail. I sent all that **** in, and it got lost in their mail office for a month. It finally got to me, the ownership in my name. From there I had to clear customs $56 bucks. They couldn't under stand how a Canadian can own a car with a California title in my name. Then for the safty $80 bucks, The only thing wrong was and I had to replace the rear struts.
Here is the real kicker,
After all that **** I might have to go to Thailand (navy) and it will be an other 7 months before I get to drive it
Cheers
Brent

That's a shame you had to go through all of that.
