HLSD Does, In Fact, Rule!
HLSD Does, In Fact, Rule!
I read a thread from yesterday about HLSD ruling. I can confirm it. I have HLSD on my '97 Maxima and I left FIFTY-ONE feet of rubber on the road the other day while visiting my cousin in Charlotte. I got a picture of the posi-looking strip smoking in my wake. Its wicked cool!
haters.
I wouldn't waste good tirese, what gave you that idea? I'm riding on RSA's... when they are cooked i'll do some nice rims and tires.
In fact you know what? I'm going to have an awesome time buying new tires, really good ones. I'm gonna pick out the rims i like, mount them, and it's going to be freaking great! : P

What's everyone so uptight about? I bought a set of michelins on "96 rims at a junkyard for $150. The tread is great. What good is a high performance mochine like a Maxima if you can't have some fun with it, eh? I would have posted a picture but I can't figure out how. You can see my car's power at http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/769055. If someone tells me how to add a picture to my ORG profile then I'll post a picture of my posi 51 footer. For additional evidence go to the Lake Wylie elementary school's bus parking lot and bow to the master's work. WHO'S YOUR DADDY?

Oh and bye the way, your car didn't come with a HLSD.
Is your cousin bladerunr?

228 feet of rubber (somewhere in there you can see the azz end of my Max), pics of the whole thing sent to SCC burnout of the month- tire of choice- Acura TL Bridgestone Turanza from the tire recall. No LSD in this picture. I hardly doubt your Maxima has VLSD even.
Just happens that if you have the wheels straight and dump the clutch the wheels MIGHT both lock up and spin. Usually my Max does both wheels, I dunno bout other one wheel wonder Maximas. Pick up your car, spin one wheel and if the other one spins the SAME way, you have a LSD of some sort. No one but Quaiffe makes a LSD thats good for the 5spd Maxima.
Dmitry82: Limited Slip Differential; H is for the Helical gear and V is for Viscous or Viscous fluid coupling diferential explained here: "How does a Viscous LSD(VLSD) work? each output shaft of the differential is tied together by a device known as a viscous coupling. This is basically two slotted discs that have a silicon fluid between them. If the discs are rotated at a speed that varies relative to each other this produces friction which heats the silicon fluid up. The silicon becomes more viscous as it's temprature rises. There will be a point where the silicon will become viscous enough to hold the two discs together (this is why the discs are slotted, it is so the silicon will have something to grip to)"(taken from http://www.240sx.org/links/installs/lsd/lsd.htm.).....
Blackbrdvq: My only expaaination for you is that maybe the tolerances in your diff gears are on the "tight" side allowing both wheels to spin in a straight line with no load. However, if you were to go around a corner, or use drag slicks, I don't think you would be able to transfering power evenly.
Sr20den might be able to explain this better!
Fanaticmadmax: The HLSD was available to anyone who had a 6sp trans for $350. (according to the dealer option book I was looking at) The Limited Slip is not available to the automatic cars, I believe, because of the interference with traction control. Again, SR20den might be able to correct me if I'm wrong.

228 feet of rubber is very good. However, its not really clear that you were driving a maxima. That picture could just as easily have been taken of a G-35 and a smoke bomb. My webpage clearly shows me in a MAXIMA laying down the rubber. I posted a picture of my final FIFTY-ONE feet too, which is the best confirmed MAXIMA tire roasting I've seen accompanying this thread. Check it out at power at http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/769055 SR20DEN says he can beat it but I haven't seen proof, yet... If you can't get a picture then I'll have my cousin, Bladerunr check the marks. I'd love to see a picture though.
BTW, I was down in Charlotte over New Year's. My cusin and I tried to put together a Maxima meet in Charlotte but nobody showed up. I'll be back in Aplril for the classic car show. Maybe we can put something together then.
Until then, let's see some more confirmed maxima smoking pictures!

the meridian package, well on the 02's atleast, delt with only heated seats and wheels. My 02 was a meridian car, but i purchased it before HLSD was an option, and it's a stick as well. So unles 01 is different, then meridian isn't meant to include a traction control .

Why are we arguing bout a stupid burnout that a 4th gen made ? Why did he even post that hes got HLSD, thats beyond me. I should get my 00 Altima, go outside and do even a bigger burnout, its a automatic 4 cylinder. Who cares ? I guess you need to impress the "girls" with big burn outs, cause you can't impress em with straight line acceleration for sure.

I just went by that parking lot for the second time tonight. I can't really see the marks too well in the dark and there was someone camping out in the parking lot for the second time so I couldn't stop to look.
Sloppymax: Not that I'm sure, because I don't yet have enough Maxima knowledge, but I don't understand why Nissan would include a LSD with traction control. It sems that traction control would apply the brakes or chop the gas before the LSD had the chance to transfer power to the other wheel. I know for a fact ACURA doesn't include an LSD with traction control because my CL-S auto with traction control didn't have an LSD, yet the 2003 6sp CL-S does have an LSD, but no traction control. I also concur with MJG about the meridian package being heated seats, wheel and outside mirrors because that's what my 6sp has, yet no LSD.
If someone could clarify this further or has definite knowledge, please say so!
