To all those with cleared HIDs

Did anyone simply remove the amber lens without putting another one in its place? Are there any problems that can arise form not having a lens on there, or is it perfectly fine? Can someone post pics?
Thanks

yeah a lot of ppl do this..check maximapolak's thread on his new DDEs...there are some close-ups of them..personally i dont like the look, i would rather the malibu lens from home depot, but whatever floats your boat...there arent any problems with doing it this way though

you dont even need a dremel, those lenses are soft enough to cut w/ tin shears or scissors. ~5min to do both

i was gonna do the malibu, but i never got the headlight out.... the "how to" in the sticky is wrong, the housecor says only 2 screws and pull.... so im gonna wait till it gets warmer out so i can go underneath the car and get it the right way

Unless you have data dots, there's only two bolts on top of the headlight unit that need to be removed. However, you have to pull the headlight hard to release the retaining clips.

I just cleared one of my HIDs and will do the other next weekend. It took me much longer than it should've (3 hours total) because I couldn't get the HID bulb back in. I put in a Philips 5000K hid bulb. I'm hoping the light output will be about the same with a little more blue in it, but I can't tell the difference as of now. I'll have to check it out when it gets dark. Does anyone know if the blinker bulb is supposed to look like it's in there sideways?
Thanks for the help and the how to's.
