given neither add hp, and i wouldnt say i am a bad driver, but do you think that they could decrease 1/4 mile times a bit. maybe a 10th of a second?

possibly the STS but i doubt the shift light. whether you have one or not, i doubt it would help you at all. i would get the STS anyways since the stock shifter is kinda long.

I have a STS .. its not that much shorter in physical lenght... but the shifts are firmer and more precise.. lets just say after driving my car.. i drove my cousin's 97 5spd and the shifter felt sloppy

I was wondering about short-throw shifters myself. Do they improve gear changing speed when racing? As fast as I'm sure some of us can shift I wonder if it would help.

its a bit tricky at times.. sometimes i miss third.. but you just have to bang the gear..

at first its real stiff.. but then it gets better.. but everyone who has driven my car says the shifts are way more precise.. 1 st , 2 nd, 3 rd, all where they are suppose to be when you are looking for them..

I like having the shiftlight. I've got Harlan's (Turbohawk) light which is very small (3"X1") and only cost $40. I think it does help me at the track because I never have to look at the gauge pod (ie one less thing to watch). Before buying a shifter, try cutting down your shifter 1" or so (don't go any further than 1.5"). See how you like it. My throws are a bit shorter. I've felt a few STS in the Maximas and they do feel good, but they are tight and they get "hung up" in the gates (usually the 2-3). I thought about the STS, but the fact that they are so stiff and the possibily of missing a shift is present, I passed. I've NEVER missed a shift at the track and I want to keep it that way.
