I was in the first group to get the HP STS. I love it and consider it a "must get" option on a 6-speed. Install was easy with no need for new bushings. Very solid piece, carved from a single piece of aluminum. No joints to fail.

No cons I can think of. It does move the shifter forward a bit but no big deal. Maybe 1 or 2 people complained about that. I haven't heard of anyone taking one out for any reason. I like the way it moved the shifter forward. My arm doesn't hit the seat bolster when I shift now and it just feels better. THe throw is definately shorter and quicker.

I can't speak for the TMW. They both shorten the throw by the same amount. They also do it in the same way. I doubt there would be any difference in driving. With the HP unit being cheaper and made from better quality aluminum the choice seems clear.

There was a thread with 4 or 5 pages of praise for the HP. I can't seem to find it now though. Only 2 or 3 people have tried the TMW. THat doesn't mean it's not a good unit but I don't see any advantage at all over the HP unit.

Just get the HP. You won't be disappointed.

I've been happy with the HP. The only thing I notice as a downside is that it is more difficult to gear down to first on the roll when the gearbox is still cold. After the car is fully warm, its OK, but still requires more effort than without the STS. As noted above, the entire shift pattern is moved forward, but that helps in that the stick interferes less with the forward cup holder. Worth the money.

As far as I know no one has written up a review of the TWM STS. I have the HP and it is great. As far as pricing I know TWM lowered the price of theirs to compete with HP. They are probably just about the same price now. If you decide to go with the TWM please do a review. I would like to read one.

Maybe i wasn't clear. I'm trying to decide whether to buy the HP Autoworks or the TWM Performance STS. Only one of these replies actually addressed my question. I know all the benefits of getting a short throw... and i've read all those links..

i was wondering if anybody had opinions about which is better? HP Autoworks vs. TWM Performance

i have the twm sts...got it from ebay when i saw the price drop...$157 now. the install was very easy. i believe there is a slight difference in the install of the hp and twm pcs. (bracket is a bit different) the twm stands out more because of the blue anodized coating and the chrome twm logo. i think the hp blends in more...more stock looking pc. as for strength, i would guess both are probably the same. even though the hp is a higher grade aluminum, i really don't think it is a factor. shifts are a lot shorter, and may be a tad more notchy, but i really am not to sure about that because i installed the poly shifter bushings from Energy Suspension just before i did the sts. i reeeeally like driving my max now...only prob is 30k in one yr isn't so great! at least now i will have more fun living in my max! i got the twm because i heard the praises of the altima guys and their happiness with the weighted shift ****(not avail yet for the max, but aparently in development). overall, i am really happy, and i don't think you will find many ppl that can really give you a reason to buy one over the other, other than price, and service. twm has a lifetime warranty if i recall the email i received from them. hope my input helps. here are the links to ebay for the twm sts. there is also a shift **** available, but you have to 86 the lock out collar(the reverse gate collar)
