Total '95 / '96 Maxima Sales Numbers???

Does anybody know how many 1995 and 1996 Maximas have been sold here in the U.S. and Canada? I'd probably get flamed by the whole org if I told you why I want to know what that figure is since the reason behind my inquiry is of a taboo nature.

Thanks!
Johnny

Yes, taboo... it would set off a controversial topic that I'd rather not get into.

Friendly people? haha, I'm just kidding. I'm sure someone could help, however, I'm sure some website would have the info too. Google...

well... i'm new to the forums, yes... but i actually read through some of the postings prior to actually joining and i know this will not be pretty.

anyhow... if you really want to know... only since you're all friendly people (but i already know the kind of responses i'm gonna get from reading other postings about this thus why i really didn't want to say it until it was done)...

anyhooo... the reason i want to know the number of 95/96 maxes sold is to calculate whether or not it's worth having this manufacturer in china create the molds for the 95-96 tail lamps. my partner and i have contacted a manufacturer in china (my partner speaks mandarin and has contacted a manufacturer that manufactures automotive lighting [i.e. taillight housings, corner lamps, headlights, etc.]). The molds will cost over 100,000 RNB according to the manufacturer thus why I'm trying to get a total count of 95-96 maximas out there to know approximately what the target market is (minus those that have been retired from accidents or excess mileage).

alright... let the newbie bashing begin! but please, go easy on me... i know that everyone's moms have talked about doing this in other threads but that's why this thread is titled maxima sales numbers and not another "95-96 clear tails" topic.

thanks in advance to all the FRIENDLY PEOPLE on this forum for not bashing me too hard!

Nothing wrong with trying to get some clears for the 95/96ers, its a smart idea cause a lot of 97+ have them, but us 95/96ers are left with our ambers, blackening it out (ugly in imho) or red out everything, but if you could actually get some decent clear made for us then I'm sure you'd have a lot of buyers.

There is a guy in the group deal forum who is doing something like this but he wants people to send in their tail lights he'll clear them out then return them, down side no one can go 2 weeks without their car unless they haev another one to drive. If all goes well for you, you would have some serious business.

see that wasnt so hard, no flamming from me welcome to the org.

You are going to spend 15,000 dollars for molds and shipping?

First of all, the people who would be interested in this type of thing would be a VERY small portion of the total number of 95-96 maxima owners (although most on this board would).

Also, a few months back this would have been very promising, however now there are a couple of options. It has been shown that red/clears can be made using altezza's and though there is not yet a writeup (and therefore many won't attempt it) it's only a matter of time. There is also a thread going in the 4th gen classifieds in which a manufacturer is offering to make clear lenses at a fairly reasonable price. Honestly I think the market is about to get flooded.

If we can sell 100 sets @ $200 a set... then yes... since that will be about the break even point once the price for the molds, production, freight, and custom charges are factored in.

Hmm... yes... I was following that thread... i think... is it the one where this manufacturer you're talkin' about is waiting for 5 $50 deposits and for oem lenses from one of the org members? i dunno... it sounds like he's gonna be making the molds from stuff you can get at an art store.

Yeah. That's the one. It wouldn't be quite the mass production you're talking about...he will have to remake the molds periodically. My point still remains though that there are now a couple of options coming out for this product...a few months ago would have been infinitely better to come out with these things. If you feel that you can still make a profit then by all means go for it. More options for us is never a bad thing. It's no longer the no brainer it was a couple months ago as you will have competition.
