Stock Tires on 6th Gen - how do you like them?
As the title says, how do you guys like the stock tires that come on your cars?? This may be posted in the wrong forum and may get moved by the moderator but just wanted to see if it would stick here or not. Pretty sure the tires are the Goodyear RS-A's. How are they overall, in rain, snow or whatever. Any info you can give me would be greatly appr.

I'm running the RS-A's and haven't had a problem out of them. Traction in the rain and snow is good. They also aren't noisy.
I hated the Potenzas that came stock on my '02. They handled terribly and the tread life was too short. I replaced those with RS-A's and was very happy.

Agree with the others. Lots of b!tching about the RSA's here and on the tire forums, but they have performed well for me.
Now, I did have the splitting problem, but Goodyear handled it well. I had 21,000 miles on those tires and they were at 8/32nds. The tires come with 11/32nds of tread, so they were holding up well. Traction, wet and dry, is good and ride seems good to me, as long as they're inflated to 30psi cold. There's a fair amount of road noise, but I think it's as much the shortage if sound-deadening in the car as it is the tires.
I'm fine with them.

Sorry i missed your call bro, was getting the car washed then installing the intake. Personally, i had no problem with the goodyears until about a year after. Then everytime it rained i thought i was going to die. I moved on to the contextreme contact tires and love them. I did drive a lot with the goodyear's and probably lost a lot of tread over time with them so that may have been part of the cause.
All SLs come with the Conti Touring. Mine have been great, but I only have 6K on them, and drive very reasonably.
During the past year or two, several here have posted their dislike for the Conti Touring, so when I need tires, I plan to switch to the Conti Extreme Contact, which have had very good reviews here.

I prefer higher performance tires, so when they wear out, Im gonna look for some sticky rubber to go with the suspension mods I plan. For plain jane tires, I guess the RS-As are ok.

But thats because you're always high on dope(dopestar)
ContiTouringContacts OK
My 2005 SL came with the ContiTouringContacts. They are doing OK. I just had them rotated at a 6,250 miles.
I have always been partial to Michelin tires. I am interested in possibly putting different tires when the OEM's need replaced, but am not sure how I can test drive other tires short of actually buying a set. I have read positive reviews of the ContiPremierContacts, but I wouldn't want to buy something more expensive then be dissappointed with no difference or even a step backward compared to the originals. The main consideration for me when looking at tires is the comfort of the ride first, then traction, then handling, in that order (I don't corner as hard or fast as I used to).

I have to say after hearing all the horror stories about the Goodyear RSAs that I have had nothing but great service from them. My Max has handled some bad road conditions perfectly. Bad snow in Flagstaff with ice and snow. Drove through a bad rain storm near Hoover Dam and my Max hugged the road. I will be very thankful if I can get 40,000 miles out of them and then go get some MICHELINS!!!

they did fairly well in the deep snow getting around today. but you know what? I don't care how well they perform or last b/c the fact I found splits (along w/ many others), they are gone once my replacements come in. They are also poorly rated compared to others in $200+ each range.
By the end of today, I will have had 10 RSAs on my SE with 2700 miles on it. 4 from factory (all bad), 4 replacements (2 bad), 2 replacements for the replacements = 10 tires. All of my bad ones have had flat spots in them. The vibration this caused was "the same as every other new '05 SE on the lot" according to the Nissan dealer. Goodyear has never once argued about replacing the tires. I think Goddyear knows that there are issues out there on the 05s too and is trying to make each person that complains happy so they don't lose the Nissan business.
IF YOU ARE HAVING ANY VIBRATION IN YOUR STEERING WHEEL IN AN '05 SE, CALL GOODYEAR AT 1-800-321-2136 AND TELL THEM WHAT PROBLEM YOU ARE HAVING, GET A CASE NUMBER AND HAVE YOUR TIRES CHECKED FOR FLAT SPOTS. 60% of the tires that have been on my car have had these flat spots and, to me, this means that it is not an isolated incident.
Yesterday, after Goodyear found the two with flat spots, they moved them to the back and said that my steeering wheel should feel a whole lot better. It does, it is like night and day difference. My two new RSAs will be in today and after I get them, I am taking it my dealership to show them how the MAX was designed to ride.

Granted my car is a 4th Gen, but I have had the Goodyear RSAs on since day 1. They have 57,700 mostly highway miles on them and are good for another 5,000 miles or so.
I did blow the sidewall out of one of them about 13,000 miles ago, but just put on my full-size spare and bought a 2nd hand replacement.
I live on the West Coast of Canada and believe me we can get rain here. No complaints with them other than if you start a little aggressively they can spin a bit.
