look at my cardomain page. The points are similar for the 2002-3. Use my general locations and look under your hood, you'll find them near the same places...

I can vouch for Irish's kit, it is solid. Besides, you can ground whatever you want, thats the best part of DIY.

I'm attempting the same thing. Check out this guy's site. There is no set number of grounding points. Every one's setup is a little different. Just make sure that major engine components and systems are grounded to the battery ground or chassis ground.

sorry to sound so dumb, but what does grounding the car do for you? is it for people with crazy stereo setup, or will grounding the car effect other things that i am unaware of?
i am totally clueless about electrical systems in cars so thanks for any replies

Supposedly, it helps in shifting (on autos) and ignition, but I can't vouch as I'll be doing mine this spring.

... also supposedly idles smoother... brightens your lights (due to some efficiency principle I guess)... and has better throttle response...

Update

I searched HD as the "Home Depot" king requested but came up with nothing. Except shrink wrap.....yes just shrink wrap. There was no 6 guage grounding wire of multi strand, there was no 6 guage round connectors either. THEN AGAIN IM IN ALASKA!

So here is what i propose to everyone so they dont have to drive around like I did especially since it was -40 today!

Call the best electrical shop that sells parts and equipment.
I was able to get "welding wire" (orange), it says on it " Carol Super VU-TRON Welding Cable Extra flexible, 600volts, -50+ 90C temps, oil resistant, P-123-141" I got 24 feet of this for 11.50! WHAT A BUY

Then I went to NAPA where they had the least expensive Ring connectors in town for 50 cents each Part number NR614 (14 each 1/4 inch), and 1each 3/8 inch terminal connector.

I also bought shrink wrap from the electrical shop for 1.36 cents for 4 feet.
TOTAL COST OF EVERYTHING: $21.36 much cheaper buy about 8.00 dollars over HOME DEPOT!

When I am done with installing it this weekend I will show the results. (perhaps even tomorrow night)

WHAT DO YOU THINK IRISH44J "HOME DEPOT KING"? And if you would like better pictures for a 2002-2003 eng compartment diagram with wires go to ely002 cardomain site. ( http:www.cardomain.com/memberpage/313259/10 )

I will be doing this project tonight in the Hanger. I will let you all know if I feel a difference and also take pictures. Then eventually post them on cardomain if I get to it this weekend. GOOD DAY!

My Home Depot carries everything for this mod. The parts can be obtained a thousand different ways. To each his own. Irish's site is very helpful, and ely's site is pretty good too, except it could use descriptions. Good luck with your modding, my_first_maxima, please post as much as you can. Everyone's "How-to" makes a difference.

Thanks to these 2 AWSOME sites and the editors I was able to easily do the project. Like I said for 21 dollars and splendid welding wire everything went well. I have plenty of pictures. I will work on a cardmain site and post them there. Or email me if you'd like pictures before i post them.
