can't fill gas tank all the way up...

my gas tank is a little bit below the half mark and so i went to put gas, but it didnt fill up all the way...it only took about 5 gallons before the pump clicked. Its been really cold over here, right now its snowing...for the past 5 months or so i always wait at least a week or when the gas gauge gets to half tank before i fill up, how come i cant fill up to a full tank of gas? this is the first time it happened. also the battery was replace a couple days ago too. this never happened before, could there be condensation in the tank? if so, what is the best way to remove the condensation?

Gauge lives in disagreement with the tank? Sender unit ? broken.

Measure charge voltage, should be over 13.8V

Can be condensation, not related to this. Buy, add alcohol additive into tank.

That'sa good question. I have never been able to put 18.5 gallons in my tank. 15.2 is my very best after driving the car below "E" for 2 days. If anybody shares to clean up that crap in there, please share...

the vent hose going to the gas tank from the filler. Its the small hose. I have had to replace them on every 3rd gen I have owned.

So if you dont get the fullness of your gas tank, like ive run mine down to the bottom of the Empty line and then when i filled up i only put in 14.5, so does that mean that i still have 4 gallons chillen around in my gas tank that i could use up? I am going to test it this week by running my tank completely empty and caring a gallon of gas with me so i can get to a gas station when i run out, but any other ways of testing this?

yeah i had more than 5 gallons left over when the pump first clicked, it is safe for me to keep adding more fuel to the tank even though it clicked, or will it overflow the tank or something...

I think it will overflow, i dont think its the gas nozzles that are reading wrong because they shut off when the gas actually hits the nozzle. I think that maybe our gas gauges just dont read correctly.

if there is a kink in the neck it can cause premature shutoff

Kink in the neck of what? And by premature shut off are you referring to the car or the guage?

Would this be in the space above and behind the suspension setup on the left rear side? I noticed last week, after a complete fill up, that gas was dripping from up there. It eventually stopped after a few minutes, but it was initially disconcerting. The drips appeared to be coming from some connector.
