Gauging interest in

Throttle Body spacers....are any of you guys/gals interested in purchasing these? The price would be under $50 if interested. I am likely to get one made, but would like to give the manufacturer an idea of how many to expect.

Thanks,

i am curious hat would the effect of the spacer be towards performance?

it keesp the TB a little cooler, thus less heat transferred from the TB to the IM

So, what about the coolant running through the TB?

I dont see how it would make it cooler... is it made out of some sort of material that reflects heat?... Is there other vehicles that have this?... if so show us an example please. Does this favor in performance?..

I don't know about the cool thing, but a lot of musle cars have aftermarket spacers to increase turbulance before the IM (wich is suposed to equal power?)

Yes it does...it will be made out of glass filled delrin..more heat resistant and low moisture absorption

Other Vehicles do have this and see an improvement in performance. I'm not sure how much we will see with the max. I am merely trying to see if its worth my time and the manufactuer's time to have this made for the community.

Here's a pic:
Courtesy of Blehmco Products as they would be the ones to make this product if there is a demand.

Get dyno results, then get a price, then get back to us.

I did a search on throttlebody spacers and found that in some applications they have been known to show gains but those spacers have a special bore that supposedly creates a vortex with the air. I don't think just a hole in a plate will improve anything.
this is a qutoe i pulled out of one of the product descriptions on this site
http://www.streetbeatcustoms.com/trotbodspac.html
The unique dyno-proven "Helix Bore" causes a spinning action of the incoming air charge as it passes through the throttle body. This extremely beneficial air-charge carries all the way into the combustion chamber, producing a super-atomized mixture and resulting in tremendous gains in mid-range power and overall efficiency.

Maybe if you can make something like this

yes, but they are carbed. the swirling-turbulent effect helped the fuel and o2 to atomize more completely. im not sure of the effect on a injected system.

my friend got a spacer for his 99 accord, and it ran him $80 and did little for performance. the only difference he noticed is the vortex of the air creates a whistle and it supposedly sounds like a blow off valve or super charger, i forget what he said. from that i say it's a waste of time and money on the max

If you stop and think about it for just a sec, you'll figure out that all those "vortex" claims are BS.

Zack,

Thanks for posting the links in there....I have not decided if I'm going to do it yet...

Nonetheless,

RicoSuave, just cause you friend's Honda and the throttle body spacer didn't work has no bearing on a maxima.

yeah sounds like a tornado claim to me. but i have heard of tb spacers on carbed engines, and they show minimal gains (tried one on my 81 maro)

yeah its a cheap mod if you can show some gains. Most of the spacers i found on my search were less than $100 so if you could find one that give some performance gains it would be worth it. just have one made and dyno. May cost you $200 ($100 for the spacer+$100 for dyno time) up front but you will have proof to your claim and make a killing by selling them.
