Which Steering Wheel to Buy?

Hi Guys,

I am looking to buy a different steering wheel. I have the 89 GXE non-airbag wheel that came with the car and I just really don't like the look of it or the feel of it. It is too hard and thin. I want something fatter and softer, like a real sports car. I do want to maintain the Nissan look and the cruise control buttons. I have been looking at the 90-96 300Z wheel and other wheels from 240SX or Skylines/Silvias. Let me know what you think. Would it be possible to also add stereo controls? Just a thought.

The SE's have a "sport" steering wheel in some of them, they look alot better, and the 240's look nice too.

There are two different s13 steering wheels that will work. I got the SE one that is the same as the 300zx steering wheel. The non-SE s13 one is a bit smaller. From what I have seen virtually none of the JDM ones (sylvia, skyline, etc) have the cruise control buttons built in, so you would either lose your CC or have to rewire it somewhere else. The same goes for any s13 wheel you might come across that doesn't have cruise.

the small one looks like this (this one doesn't have cruise, but you can find them):

Mine looks like this:

Thanks, ya, I'm bidding on one that looks just like the 240 you have with the cruise, except its from a Z. If I don't get that I will consider another alternative. I was looking aftermarket, but they look a bit gawdy and don't have the convenience of the cruise control feature. Has someone used aftermarket and relocated the cruise controls? Let me know where you put them. Thanks.

get an Rx-7 wheel... or a mustang SVO wheel they both look like 240 wheel. I think that shape was a requirement for sports cars in the 80's

Looks good. Just a little boxy for my taste. I think I'm going to go with either the Z32 wheel or Max SE wheel. Is the Max SE 4-spoke wheel just as fat as the Z32 wheel? What about the 240SX? Which one is the fattest?

You can do anything with enough time/money. There's alot involved in adding an airbag: steering wheel, computer, sensors, wiring, I'm not even sure what all is involved.

Just wrap a pillow to the steering wheel just like go-carts have. Im sure it would work just as well.
