86 maxima help ME!!

Okay guys i am so stuck right now. I own a blue rocket. It is the sweetest 86 maxima station wagon ever. Okay i am just kidding, but my other car was stolen and insurance didnt cover enough to buy what i wanted. The 86 is AT with 3.0L v6. I have new wires and plugs and cap. New injectors. The car runs like a champ when it is dry out. I love beating people off the line, most of the time they dont know we are racing that is why i always win. Okay down to my problem.. LIKE I SAID my car runs fine when it is dry, but it just stumbles all over the place when it rains. It could be a light rain or a monsoon, it doesnt seem to matter. It is missing for a reason and i just cant figure it out. Oh yeah another thing i read one thread were some guy said you are suppose to use AT fluid for power steering, is he smoking crack???

Yes your suppose to use ATF for power steering. Power steering fluid will destroy the system and make it leak like no other.

As for your problem, has there been anything done to the intake system at all?

My '88 did the same thing, although it would sometimes act up if it was dry, it was more likely to act up when it was rainy and wet. My problem turned out to be a bad MAF. It runs awesome since it was replaced.

Well if it is going to make it leak like no other, then how do i clear the system of power steering. do i just have to empty the can or what? No i have not messed with the intake at all. How do i go about testing the MAF without throwing parts at it? Dont want to spend money that i dont have too.

You should pick up a FSM for an 86. It will have everything you need to know on how to check codes as well as flushing the power steering system.

If i am looking for the FSM where would be a good cheap place to start? Please tell me you guys arent talking about getting the crappy chilton books either. Those things usually are pretty worthless.

Wow i need to just figure out how to get a hold of this frickin SM and it will take care of most of the Blue Rockets issues, like what does that vacuum hose do that is just laying there? And man what do i have to take off to get to that damn hole in my header.
