STOCK 18inch RIMS

I am on my 3rd replacement stock rim, i drive my car very carefully and try to avoid as many pot holes as possible yet every time i bring my car to the dealer cause of the wheel shimmy they say its due to a bent rim and I have to replace at $650 each if i want the shimmy to be fixed. now I dont recall denting my rims, and I cant believe how much they want for them. has anyone had a similar problem to this. is it just me or is the dealer stickin it to me?

Never had that problem...Also, you need to get on Ebay or MaxClassifieds and get a rim for far cheaper than that. Never buy OEM from the Stealership, if you can avoid.

get a 2nd opinion. have you seen the the so called damage? if they do not try every option on the TSB, and cannot show you the damage... I'd take legal action and/or contact Nissan. that sounds too shady, all 4?

from my experience, these wheels are very strong.

its only one that is bent and they showed it to me while it was on the balancing machine. I could clearly see it. I was getting my RSA's changed to f1s.

you just really confused me. for a sec, I thought you were replying as the one who started the thread.

so how did you bend it? was there any shimmy from it?

it's very possible my wheel is bent right now i have a nasty gash and am buying one to replace (of course not from Nissan). but there are no symptoms of other damage.

3rd replacement already? I've nailed some nasty potholes w/ lower profile tires and my 2k4 wheels are still holding up.

Sounds like you are being had. If there is a new dealership or one that has recently moved to a new building in your area take it there. They are usually more willing to find and fix problems and generally have better equipment.

If they show you the wheel is "warped" or "out of round" it is normal. No wheel will be 100% round and no tire is either. That is why Nissan says you should have your wheels ballanced by a Hunter GSP9700 and road forced ballanced by that machine too. The machine is designed to put the hi (tall) point of the tire to the lowest point on the wheel to match the out of round of each to nearly eliminate the affect of both.

I had a balance problem on my 97 Camry and the tire shop said it was the BBS wheels (one of the best manufacturers of wheels that do Formula 1 and many other racing wheels as well as a major sponsor and tester at Road Atlanta as they have a huge plant next to the track) causing the balance problems. I took it somewhere else and the car drove smooth as silk thereafter.
