Got Grounding Kit But No Optima Battery, Wht Should I Do!!???

yeh i ordered a universal grounding kit off of ebay but don't have an optima.
optima red tops goes for like $106 and i really don't feel like spending that much for an extra battery that i really don't need.

i tried advance, parks, radioshack and even batteries plus to see if they have some sort of adapter that will give me 2 neg posts. no luck.
is there any way u can install the grounding kit w/o the optima???

Who said you had to have an Optima to use a grounding kit?

Hmmm, red cables for the negative side of the battery. Sounds like a smart color choice to me!

Is this thread a joke? Someone playing a trick on us?

If you look at the negative cable connector you will see it is held on by a bolt. Just attach one of the grounds from the Grounding Kit to the bolt and bolt it back on.

...Maybe you should have a mechanic do it.

You'll probably be surprised how much of a difference a gounding kit doesn't make in the 1st place.

haha.. real funny, i already knew in the first place that it won't make much of a diff, but hey it was only $25 compared to retail at a ridicoules $199.99. Yes i know these don't make much of a diff but are you really sopose to actually notice increase in performance? of course not. many people said they noticed little better idle and lights shine brighter and music hits harder and can play it louder. Plus it adds more color to my engine bay.

Walmart carries the duralast extreme batteries for 57$. You can get one (i forget the battery number) with 1000 cold cranking amps and a 3 year replacement warranty through walmart. I run these battery im my other vehicles as well as my CBR. Never an issue (as a matter of fact after 2.5 years I replaced my cbr battery just because it was getting weak on turnovers....new one with no questions asked!)

This battery will also offer your top post for factory ground as well as a additional "nipple" style for your grounding kit...and its yellow!

The truth is that with proper cleaning (wire brush) along the stock grounding locations you are able to regain the power that most people see with a grounding kit. **due to rust/oxidation of the grounding points**

True, you can find dyno #s on the web saying this car added 4hp by adding a grounding kit but those dynos are from the manufacturer. I suppose it would never be a possibility that a manufacturer could inflate numbers any.

True, people will 'say' that their grounding kit kept the lights from going dim during high bass notes or their lights are much brighter but how can someone really tell without proper measuring devices?

I have a grounding kit on my car...and I didn't notice a difference. There is a small placebo effect going on but everyone expects the grounding kit to be a huge beneficial godsend for barely any $$.

I agree, I think mine did absolutely nothing. And I hate admitting to stuff like that.

Its dumb for the fact that you do not have to have an Optima battery to ground out an item.
He could just simply run one of the wires to the Neg. GND terminal on the battery and all others will share the same GND.

The item is a grounding kit, self explanatory.
Now if he asked for the best grounding spots, thats a more sensible question.
It seems some people just cannot figure things out for themselves, or ask for how to's before attempting to take on the project themselves.

I think Matt93 se could enlighten us on this one. The kit he makes grounds only certain aspects of the car actually affected by the maxima's ecu. I made my own kit and grounded the "traditional points" (intake, cylinder head, transmission, headlight, alternator) and honestly i feel the only wire where I noticed a difference was the alternator. I have heard of some people regrounding the knock sensor, and other various aspects of the car. Maybe Matt can explain it better and get a plug for his BLEHM co grounding kit??

you put the metal central connection point on the neg battery terminal and attach the original ground cable to this central connection point and then run the wires accordingly, there is a place on the ground kit to put the original ground wire, iirc
