The Maxima VS Most Sports cars
I have heard people responding to peoples questions about making the Maxima faster without SC or NOS by saying "Get a new Car" I think the reason why most people just want to make there Maximas faster instead of getting a new sports car is because the Maxima's have a whole lot more to offer. Unless you just want to go out and race all the time the Maxima's have a nice smooth ride (or atleast mine does) great reliable engines, a luxurious look and feel, lots of room etc... In sports cars they may be fast but they are small, hardly any room, yes they are fast but most people just dont want a tiny little fast car. Now if you had a Maxima and a little sports car then that would be great but for people that are just looking to make their Max's faster and dont want to get another car the reasons above are probably why. And im sure there are more reasons that I just couldnt think off. A buddy of mine has 295K on his Maxima, now whens the last time you saw a sports car with even close to that many miles on it without major repairs. This was just on my mind and thought I would post it. Take Care

Re: Re: SB97MAX
Im going to have to agree with you 100% on this!!!! The Max has everything that I need. Great speed(especially for a 4 door) room, luxury and a lot of other things. And like BriGuyMax said, I can actually drive them in the snow with no troubles and they do not attract cops. Gotta Love the Maxima's. Later
This completely depends on what you want and expect out of a car. I mean to you a family sedan works... but to other's it might not be what they are looking for. Perhaps they don't need to be able to seat four, they don't want a large car etc. I know people that only have 1 car, and it's the S2000. Works great for them. Doesn't cost that much as far as gas goes, infact I get better mpg in the s2000 on long and short trips than I do in the maxima. If you can only have one car, I think for most people the Maxima certainly makes sense... but I think a "sports car" is a purpose built car, and comparing a family sedan to a sports car is somewhat of an unfair comparison. I mean, cars like the Maxima tries to be a lot of things, and sometimes I will argue too many. It tries to be larger to haul a lot of people, it tries to be fast like a sports car, it tries to handle really well, and the key is, it tries to be affordable. Take the price out of the equation, you can certainly get all three that I mentioned, a la BMW M5, but add in price considerations, something has to give.

Oh boy, here we go with the negative impressions from Shing on the max. So, I balance it out with a +ve one
Anyway, yeah, it is a compromise, lack of rear ind. suspension, quality control has suffered in terms of paint etc.
BUT, they kept the essence of the 4 door sports car, and no one does it better at the Max's price. period.

The Maxima is called the 4DSC for a reason. Any car that can be bought for $24,000 and come with a ton of equipment, hold 5 people and their luggage and still do a 0-60 in less than 7 seconds couldn't be called anything else. The car exists in some pretty rarified air here.
Shingles, the whole purpose of this post was to show why people want to make their Maxima's faster without getting a sports car. I not asking what people are looking for in their cars. Im simply stating that people who want to do work to their Max's to make them even better are doing it because they DONT want sports cars. Sure if you live by yourself and dont have other people to haul around then great get a sports car, nothing wrong with that. Oh wait except: most cant be driven in the snow, they get pulled over easier, they are not as reliable, most use more gas etc... My dad has a Porsche so its not that I have a thing against sports cars I just dont want one because I think they are more of a hastle. And I kinda like the idea of being able to drive one car for over 200K miles. Take Care
