Just picked up an 04 Maxima, what do you think?

Hi, new member, new owner here.

I picked up an 04 6spd Maxima SE a couple days ago, fully loaded with everything available including nav, the full length console package, sunroof, etc. It's black, gray leather interior, and bought with 5,700mi on the clock. This is my first import. I traded a 2002 mustang GT with 25k on it + a check for $9871 for the Maxima out the door, including uncapped 6% sales tax. The realistic trade value in "good" condition that most dealers go by was $11,500 for the mustang by my calculations. Private party for similar year and miles are listed at $13-$14k in autotrader and the like. Given that, you think that was a good deal? so so? or could of done better? From what I have researched, it looks like an awsome deal to me, but you guys would know best being into these cars and all.

Anyways, I LOVE it so far. So smooth and quiet, lots of toys to play with, and doesnt feel like I'm suffering much from any lack of power after coming from a V8. There are 2 issues right off that bat with it though. Probably has warped rotors since it shakes a little on braking, which looks like a common problem by the posts here I see. I also have wind noise coming from the driver door. A seal is definently leaking somewhere. I havent figured out if the air leak is around the window or if its the door seal itself yet though. Other then that it's great. I love everything except for maybe the really long throws of the shifter. I have getting a shorter throw shifter and a new grill in mind right off the bat. Those 2 items should make it even better to me.

Dan

Welcome to the 6-speed club! (yea so what if i've got a 5.5 gen - a 6-speed is a 6-speed )

There is no color better than black. I'm sure you'll have a blast with it.

1st up is getting rid of that hideous stock grill. Also thinking about getting a shorter throw shifter right off the bat. Travel is a bit long stock. That's all for now untill some of the fun and newness of having a different car fades some.

Welcome! I recently got a new 05 SE but an auto not a 6 speed. I had a 99 Mustang GT awhile back and to me this car feels alot faster than my Mustang ever did. Anhow enjoy the car it sounds like a beauty!

Seems like a very reasonable offer/trade.
