Washer system will not pump washer fluid

I can hear the washer pump working, but no washer fluid is spraying onto the windshield. There is plenty of washer fluid in the reservoir. Nothing is blocking the jets to spray the fluid. What can cause the fluid to not come out?

Hoses are blocked or are disconnected. Check them and have someone spray the fluid to see if you can see it squirting from somewhere. If not the motor went dead, even if you can still hear it.

I had a similar problem a few weeks ago. My washer pump was dead so what I did was...

1. I unplugged the harness from the washer pump and cleaned the contacts with a small nail file. Then I put it back together with some conductive grease to ensure corrosion resistance yet still allow conductivity.

2. Once the pump was working but still no spray, I unplugged the hoses from the nozzles, then I unplugged the main hose from the washer fluid pump and shot some compressed air through it. Some slushy liquid came out because some of it had frozen. I then filled the reservoir with better washer fluid more resistant to freezing than the cheap .69 one from Wal-mart.

Haven't had a problem since. If that hadn't worked, I was going to reconnect the hoses to the nozzles and blast it again with some compressed air to un-clog anything that may have been in the nozzles.

Good luck.

I had this problem with alot of cars in the past couple of month. I'm not sure of the weather in your area. But in NY we have gotten some cold weather and froze a bunch of washer bottles. Try pull off the hose on the passanger side and blow into the bottle side of it. You should get bubbles in the tank. If you do then you probley need a pump.
