i have a '04 max se
i just noticed around the gearshift (6spd manual) that square piece of trim that surrounds the shifter on the center console.. the dang silver paint/finish has rubbed off on one side of it... looks like hell... and the car only has 5,000 miles on it

i have only wiped it down with a damp clothe.. maybe some interior cleaner by armorall 1 or 2 x and not really rubbed it to hell... and i'm postive nothing else has been on it

is it possible to get this replaced by dealer?
or is it possible to buy a new piece of trim for that?

 

you have just discovered why the 05 has a different interior trim.
no the dealer will not replace for minor scrachtes. (not saying you can't try though).
even if you replace, it will scratch again. check Carcus on here. his solution was to cover it with overlay silver carbon.

it would be nice to see an after market carbon piece come out

 

it's available, look for it. although most are overlays.

 

It is available, it will be an overlay though like my interior. Done with dealing with the stock trim scratches.

 

any ideas where i could check out these 'overlay' things?
