Question about rims on a 99
First of all, whats the stock rim size of a 99 SE??? aright, now...lets say i want to install 17" inch rims, w/ of course new tires...would i have to lower the car??? now remember, this is a 99 SE limted...so if i want to install 17", do i have to lower my car, and not make it look like a SUV??? and if so, what do i have to lower??? shocks or springs??? and how come everyone is taking about Eibachs???

Check your owner's manual about the stock size. I"m prety sure it's 16x6.5.
If you upgrade to 17's I don't think that the wheel gap will be much more pronounced. If you decide to lower the car, you would probably want to upgrade springs and struts. You could probably get away with 10,000 miles on upgraded springs with stock struts. But you would have to replace them eventually.

I had 15-inch stock wheels and I upgraded to the 17-inch AE wheels...I don't think the gap between the fender and tire/wheel actually changed in size, but with the bigger wheel and lower profile tire, the gap "looked" bigger than it used to be...
I lowered my car and it looks so much better...no more 4X4!
I got the Eibach/Tokico combination.
harsher ride but improved handling and cornering...and reduced gap!
hope this helps...

There really wasn't much more of a gap there, but because he upgraded to larger rims and lower profile tires, it LOOKED like their was, so he lowered the car. There are several different springs out there for the Maxima (Eibach, H&R, Sprint, Intrax), and he chose Eibach. Each spring has different drops...some have a better ride than others. I personally am getting the H&R's because they give you a nice 1.5" drop and it has the closest to stock ride.
