Warpspeed full exhaust installed, Pics + autox pics + open header video!

Hey guys, If you remember my last thread then you know I have been installing lots of things and getting my car ready for auto xing this season. If not check it out here http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=373480

I ordered my whole exhaust from warpspeed which includes their new y-pipe, b-pipe with 18inch resonator and magnaflow muffler. I wanted more performance so Dallas at Warpspeed said I should go with the magnaflow and not the quiet cat back that they have on their website. Here are some pics of the install:

This is just the stock y-pipe next to my shiny new one. Notice the new flex section. Supposedly it is better flow than their old one.

This is just a picture of the two exhaust’s front to back. You can see I used a strait pipe on my old one.

You can see the new system is actually longer than the old one. Therefore my muffler is sticking out 5 inches! I have to cut the b-pipe when I have the time and tuck it under my bumper.

Mike suggested to me if I ever want to find out what my car sounds like with just headers this is the perfect time. Even though it was almost 11pm at night I said ok. I was just as curious. Let me tell you. It was amazing. You can see in the video but the sound is just crazy. It reminded me of the JGTC cars that I saw at GT Live 2004 this year (http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=364071). Even though Mike only revved the car to three thousand RPM it seriously shock my body. I could feel it in my lungs. It was so loud that I woke my mom and she came downstairs to see if something was wrong. Here is the video, just right click and go to save as.

http://www.larrychendesign.com/autox/MVI_4990.AVI

Screenshot of the video. I am guessing Mike was surprised how it sounded.

I got done installing the exhaust at 3am in the morning and I woke up at 6am to head out for the autox. It was pouring when my friend and I got there. We had to forge a couple of rivers on the street to get there. It started raining so hard that they had to change the course cause some of the cones got completely submerged in water!

This is the car after a day of practice.

That is California speedway in the background and that is my friends AW-11 next to me. We were getting pretty even times cause of the rain. I actually held up pretty well with all the guys who had FR’s in my class. They were just spinning out all over the place while I just held it to the floor most of the time.

Here is my car prepped for race the next day. It stopped raining but when my run group started it starting pouring again. Good for me but bad for all the FR guys.

This was my fastest run. This section was the worst cause when I went through it I could not see at all even though my windshield wipers were at full speed.

That’s me slamming on my brakes after going through the timing lights.

I forgot about my old sig

Why is the new one so much longer... because of the resonator, or the muffler? Did they tell you (Warpspeed) about the metal cat they sell for $175 that is supposed to have higher flow and thermal such and such? Im curious cause I would've bought that one.

Yeah that is the cat I have now. I put that on for smog earlier that day and I passed with flying colors, I got 0.01% and 0.00% for CO. I have no idea what that is, but the max allowed is %0.50 . As for the length, it is the b-pipe. I think they expect you to cut it so you can have it the way you want.

The whole pipe seems to be more flow friendly. Youre lucky!

Notice the new flex section: Interesting to hear of its flexibility ...= manifold nuts; will the shoot out, when.

Your stock y-pipe is freakin' mint! And yes, the b-pipe is extra long at the end to accomodate a variety of mufflers you may want to connect to it.

That almost sounds exactly like my Ravin with 2.5" pipe... except mine has a deeper chug at idle... but mine is that loud.... OH I CAN'T WAIT to get my new y-pipe and high flow cat. God I'm going to make the whole neighborhood wet their beds in the morning going . Everyone will think a stock car started up...

Makes me think I have a exhaust leak though... sounding almost like an open header. And that loud...? But I've checked it for leaks already, and have none. Guess I'll find out when I have the y-pipe and hi flow cat installed.

I got mine even before they got that new flex section, anyways...my back pipe was a lil bit longer and bent down kinda...made my muffler look like some honda kid just put a muffler on his existing exhaust like most them rice boys do, it was all bent downward and shiat. so I took mine to an exhaust shop and for $50 bucks he cut the b pipe, bent it up a tad, and welded my muffler onto the pipe, and welded bars onto the magnaflow muffler that warpseed sent me...so it would mount alot better to the car and not bounce around when i drove, also like them rice boys exhaust always be bouncing around with they're flapping cheap body kits they put on them stupid 4cylinder cars
Cant you tell i love honda's!

i guess they are going w/ the slip joints/ball joints w/ the spring bolts. should last longer...BUT they are slightly less forgiving w/ flexing. if your engine mounts are good it should hold up w/o a problem.

That took longer than it should have to read.

I dont really see how the new design could improve flow, when their flex sections weren't any smaller than the ID of the pipe :-/

very nice pics btw

i think they are pushing for more reliable pipe...flow should be marginally different either way.

I guess the reason my stock y-pipe looks so good is cause I live in socal. I have 118k on my car.

My y-pipe looked perfect when I took it off.

I still have the original stock cat-back on my car and it has 150k

Salt = teh rust devil

Very impressive autocross stuff. That looks like a lot of fun. I don't know if I would be too happy ripping through all of that deep water, though.

I had the same problem at first....

Until just a few days ago, I cut a few inches off and hung the pipe up higher with some plummers tape (metal strapping). Now it's tucked up in there really nice and the end of the tip is flush with the bumper. I need to go take some pics of it now because it looks ALOT better.

Well warpspeed did it on purpose so you can cut it to the length you want. I had no problems hydroplaning because you do not hit high speeds.

You didn't have a 5spd before. I'm telling you it sounds like crap on decelleration. There are no real gains for it, just put the cat back on and save some tree's.

You won't save a tree, they breathe in carbon dioxide, and breathe out oxygen.
so you'd actually be doing a tree a favor.

Except for the fact that cars produce carbon monoxide, which the cat turns into carbon dioxide.

There are not any noticeable performance gains from removing it.
